My Son's Friend deleted all my characters and Gear.

I have kept this to myself for a couple weeks because I know that Bungie has a stated that they don’t restore deleted Characters. But I heard recently that they may restore deleted gear under certain circumstances. So here I go. We had a pretty big birthday party at our house for my son. A few of his older friends decided to play xbox. When they went to play Destiny, and saw that all the character slots were used, they deleted a couple to make room for them to play. When I heard this at first I was shocked, then devastated, and then Furious. I know that Bungie does not restore deletes. They feel that decisions should be permanent. I think my situation warrants some special consideration. Here is why. This game is rated T for teen. I asked these kids why they would delete my stuff. He replied that "It's saved to the Cloud. It’s still there". How is a Teen to know that Yes the Cloud has that ability, but Bungie does not choose to do so. The game is rated T for teen. These kids saw a game and wanted to play. Which they should. It’s Awesome. They wanted to "Become Legend". Except My guardians were there. My 3 level 34 guardians with over 300 hours invested. They wanted to make their own. Clearly the way this is supposed to be done is to delete them to make room. The game is rated T for teen. And these are kids who want to play a video game on the Xbox in the house. Was I supposed to lock up my xbox and keep the kids games away from the kids? Kids play on this thing. One of my kids plays games with me who is too young to read. If an X appears on screen, he pushes it. So when this happened, I decided that I couldn’t bear trying to start over. The Thorn bounty was one of my greatest accomplishments in gaming. I had finished it days before. I had a weekly routine of planning out my reset so I could prioritize play time, and have a prepare loadouts in advance. I had a couple weapons that you couldn’t get anymore. Against All Odds CQB, Rangefinder, Hammer Forged, Feeding Frenzy . Badger CCL with Explosive rounds. I even tracked all my notable exotics here. https://destinyexotics.com/u/832f4f0cd735b4a7cb53df9dcd3bc15ec73eb2ac You purposely made this gear feel personal. You make this gear so that I would build and cherish the memories with it. After this happened, I decided to say goodbye to Destiny. Will you please restore my stuff? Thanks

  • I'm sorry to hear that, Unfortunately, Bungie cannot restore any lost or deleted characters under any circumstances. If your character(s) are not present when logging in, I'm afraid your character(s) are permanently missing. Same for weapons and items I'm afraid. • Don't know where you heard they would restore gear under certain circumstances as they haven't done so at all.

Very sorry to hear about that :(. Unfortunately, though, Bungie does not restore characters. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12240 I'd suggest password protecting your account, and letting your son's friends play on his account, to avoid future heart ache like this!

    • Hi, I'm sorry this happened to you, may I suggest you set a password/passkey to your PSN/Xbox Live account to prevent this from happening again. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12718 And Bungie doesn't restore any items or characters that were deleted or lost. For more about their return item policy check here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12211

      • I would be lying if I said I feel your pain, as I have not had this happen (I've told my kids that they will go to boarding school if they do that to me...). But Mother of God would I be wrecked...I would likely start doing drugs and fall deep in the rabbit hole...Stay strong brother! I hope you get it fixed

      • I don't have kids or a lot of people coming through my room but I most certainly have a guest account for anyone who wants to use my system. I have a password to access my account so something like this will never happen. Sorry to hear about this though, it really sucks.
