Banning People Who Didn't Cheat.
A friend of mine was banned today, he doesn't have to capability to cheat. What the hell is going on over at Bungie??

I've gotten permission to post his name. He's ridiculously good at pvp and he doesn't cheat. If you played one match with him you'd see he's cool and want to pvp with him a lot. But kudos to you guys who just want to be negative and make jokes. I hope you don't get banned for nothing like he did.

1 ReplyThe ban hammer has not always been swift but it has always been just. Basically he either has evidence on his account of cheating or he's participated in many games with someone who is. ( enough to show that he had to of known cheating was occurring but continued playing with them anyway.)

If you get banned there is always a reason. Bungie takes bans very seriously.

8 RepliesI have to admit, I have been staying over with my dad the last few weeks and his internet is terrible. In Destiny, I stuck to solo missions and patrols to avoid ruining the game for everyone else. Then the Iron Banner showed up, and Etheric Light beckoned. So, apologies to everyone who had to put up with a laggy hunter while I got up to level 3. I've stopped now, but my red bar was pretty bad. I was fully expecting to get banned because my own home connection is good and the sudden drop could look like network manipulation. Plus, all these people claiming their innocence. I haven't been banned. And if a connection as bad as my dad's doesn't get the banhammer, don't believe anyone who blames their bad connection for the ban.

21 RepliesYour friend isn't telling you the truth. Bans aren't just handed out, they check and recheck things before issuing one. And, for other people, all the reporting function does is alert the people watching for Fair Play that someone needs some close attention paid to them. They then watch the persons activity and analyze everything from networking data to k/d streaks and how they may happen to coincides ms spike together or not. And yes, as a network engineer I can tell you it is possible to tell a poor or normally leggy connection from one where someone is manipulating the throughput in some way. Your friend cheated, likely abused one of the other few things that can be done to manipulate connections, and got caught.

Little do they know that a high majority of the kids who got banned literally did nothing to deserve it. It's ludicrous to be quite honest. I personally would love reasoning behind why I was banned, but I know I'll never figure it out. Typical bungie move.

If I was a cheater I wouldn't even admit it to my friends; what would I think if someone I knew told me they cheat? I would look at them different and not play with them. Why is your friend any different?

Well maybe if people would stop using internet connections comparable to a magic jack then maybe they wouldn't get blamed for cheating when they lag. Just my opinion though.

To be honest if I got banned, I wouldn't care because its a crucible ban and I don't play PVP. I'm more of a PVE player.
