Trials of Osiris Map Rotation

We changed up Trials of Osiris this weekend and rather than playing on one map for the duration of the event you saw a random cycle of the six previous ToO maps. In the Bungie Weekly Update we asked for your feedback on this so I wanted to collect your opinions here. Did you like this experiment with a random rotation or prefer mastering one map at a time? Let us know in the comments below.

 • The map rotation is fine if you want to do it occasionally, but it definitely penalizes teams that aren't as hard core as some others, who may need a little while (and a passage card or two) to become comfortable with each other and build a team synergy on the specific map. Limiting the rotation to one or two extra maps, would be good to help teams with this struggle if the map rotation were to become permanent fixture. That being said I far far far prefer a single map, because I feel like each week my team comes to the map ready to learn it and get a feel for what teams will do and how to counter that. This makes the game more strategic than regular crucible, because you get a feel for the strategies people are employing each weekend. My team always fails the first card until we get comfortable on the given map. That doesn't make us bad players, just players who prefer to approach problems with a little strategy, which just cannot be built very well on the rotating map structure. We have beaten/come close to beating carry teams (and have also been steamrolled by other streamers) because we just focus on strategy and not trying to outgun people who we know will absolutely outgun us. We've beaten teams who absolutely outclass us, because we try to play smart. Planning is our strength, and rotating maps makes everything far too random to be able to plan more than cursory things like: what guns are best, and which area to try to control. We'd have to shift how we approach ToO and I don't prefer that shift that much, I really enjoy the strategic element. It'd be ok if it was not a permanent thing, though. That makes the occasional weekend where it's all about on the fly decision making, since you can't really expect anything. Rotating maps also removes the internet meta from the equation, where people discuss preferred strategies on a given weekend map and help each other out on reddit posts. It makes ToO more "bland" because even if it's different every game, it's the same every weekend.
