I don't have a lot of time, so I'm kinda just spewing this out, but I try to look at it through bungie's eyes. When making the game, I'd like to think bungie had a vision of how it was supposed to advance from beginning to end. You start with non match made sorry missions. Stuff that on normal you can do yourself with little to no problem. Then come the strikes, and here is where match making starts. Be it from the world map our the vanguard playlists, I believe this is where they wanted us to find people to play with. Especially in vanilla, you ended up doing a lot of strikes to get to an appropriate level to run the vault. I think they were looking for us to find our running mates there. Granted I didn't, like I'm sure most didn't, but is that really a fault in bungie's design? Couldn't it be said it was a fault of ours? I feel like bungie wanted us to climb the ladder to get to the endgame, to promote that sorry of advancement. Like starting at the bottom, the sorry, working your way up to strikes, meeting cool people, then reaching the top with your new found mates and defeating the challenges presented. Sadly I think that they kinda got behind the eight ball with no voice chat out of a fire team until much later, but I feel like they are making strikes and getting back in front of it. P.S. I have barely any clue if anything I have said is coherent or not. Breaking the rules at work but I'm trying. P.S.S. Sorry for posting my life's story
like you said no voice chat, voice chat turned off by default, no proximity chat in the tower or on patrol. Very hard to make friends or find a fireteam in the game.
Exactly. Maybe give clans a larger presence in game somehow. What worries me about optional match making is it doesn't work towards the games goals now, what makes us think it will if we added it to more stuff. There it's an issue, but I don't believe match making is the solution that will work for everyone.
I see it like this, they are behind the eight ball for what I think their idea was. If they can do something to get back in front of it, that would be amazing, cause I think it's cool concept. Time is finite though. I feel the clan system is their best bet, but there is a lot of bias in that statement.
I just don't want us to turn into zombies, mindlessly doing one activity to the next. I like the idea of finding each other and banding together again the darkness. I got lucky with my clan, but I'm pretty sure others aren't so lucky. Maybe that's something we can try to fix.
