now excuse me as I try to remove what I just read with a buzz saw
Edit: Here is the link to University website http://www.unh.edu/inclusive/bias-free-language-guide
for thous of you asking what micro-aggressions are here is the definition from the site
A micro-aggression is a subtle, often automatic, stereotypical, and insensitive behavior or comment or assumption about a person’s identity, background, ethnicity, or disability. Micro-aggressions may be intentional or non-intentional. They may be experienced daily by some people. The messages may be delivered in verbal, behavioral, and environmental forms (residing in the "climate" of an institution or in the broader society). For example, when women in the workplace enter a conference room where portraits of past CEOs or boards of directors are honorifically displayed, and they are all men. The implicit message is that women are less competent and/or that women may not be selected for leadership in that organization.
Edit: it appears they removed the language guide from there website. will re-link if i find it again

I get where they're going with American, but it's still dumb. I don't see any other countries with "America" in the name. And all the other word changes were just completely stupid.
-
Academics with way too much free time. We have issues with global warming, ISIS, world hunger, human rights violations, political turmoil, nuclear power, and rising tuition costs among many other things and this is what they choose to spend their time on? Can the world just end already?
-
Makes me wonder if the Roman Empire delt with this horse manure. Did the people born in Venice at the time get all whiny about being called Romans?
-
non-intentional
This is so coherent that they can't even use unintentional.
-
Edited by itsryan142: 7/30/2015 7:50:59 PMLost it at micro aggression. Something so small and insignificant, a normal person cant even detect it
-
We need more military academies. This is bullshit.
-
This is exactly why I hate progressivism. It is destructive by its very nature. What these folks don't realize is that some degree of patriotism and national culture is important for a nation because when you remove it all, you create a vacuum that allows something else to replace it. I would rather preserve my own nation's heritage than see it replaced by another just because of political correctness.
-
I only have a problem when people of the USA belittle other Americans. North, Central, and South America. These are Americans as well.
-
It's absolute garbage. I'm tired of this country afraid of offending people. It's getting outta hand and it makes me sick. Can't even tell a joke anymore without someone saying they are offended.
-
How many of the other NA or SA countries use "America" in their name?
-
Freakin liberals

3 RepliesColleges are now just basically hug boxes for man-children.

1 ReplyPolitical correctness is a joke. The same is happening in England, it's like if you have any pride in being English, that makes you a racist. I guess BNP and UKIP haven't helped that.
-
Not as bad as the school that banned hugging and handshakes
i am not bullshitting, look up toptenz on youtube and look at his countdown, it shows off how retarded schools are
-
It's only an attempt to see how much control the schools have. And they have a lot. A lot of schools are either privately funded or funded by state, so whatever agenda either of those chooses is what gets pushed. And the majority of America is leaning towards this "opinions and individuality offend people so don't have them", so it gets pushed through the education systems.
-
People these days so overly sensitive. It's ridiculous.
-
Sounds very much like psychoanalyst nonsense! Yes ofc we all judge someone quickly! It's an evolutionary adaptation "is this person a physical threat should I run" was the original question now further questions are asked & assumptions made on previous experience, stereotypes if unfamiliar with subject, logic or guess work! & as for your example if the boardroom is as you discribe we can infer it's an old well established company! MDs in those types of company don't retire they die! & as it has only been 20-30years since equality laws were passed there would probably only of been 1 or 2 new MDs in that time so perfectly understandably no female portraits yet but fast forward another 20-30yrs & still no portraits then she should worry

Why the fk are we letting these people get away with the crap? Why is no one looking at them and saying "dude, you understand that what you are doing is annoying, useless, and does nothing but push your narrow viewpoint into everyones life".

8 RepliesITT: waaah waaah we white christian US citizen males are being persecuted US citizen is more accurate. There is more to America than the USA. Hate to break it to you. And language choice is important. Having institutionalized preferences in our language does keep us from having an inclusive society.

3 RepliesI would run around screaming, "I'm Australian! Suck my dick!" And if they didn't like it I would use the whole freedom of speech card, the fact that it's my cultural lineage to swear a lot, and that my penis is rather impressive. And attempts to censor any of this is discrimination against myself and the Australian minority living in the U.S. And seeing as it's the US if the probably be allowed to sue.
