Guardians VS the flood

The flood

THIS BATTLE IS LOREWISE Last chance If this poll will be answered wrong i will lose faith in this community Just a list for those that dont know what the flood is • they are practicly infinite as long as 1 of them survives • proto grave minds guide all forms as 1 • flood supercells cause rapid mutation within seconds • keyminds allow the flood to posses neural physics which is basicly creating matter, energy out of nothing • using biomass from victims to build stronger forms and grave minds • ability to control mechanics The flood is a highly intellegent intergalactic supervirus This is not your ordinary cold These are living, thinking, killing beings They would've infected everything jn the galaxy if the forerunners wouldnt have stopped them Think about this If a guardian is consumed by a local gravemind, it means all flood could use your "space magic"

  • I see many people in this thread who know nothing about guardian lore and destructive capability. Lorewise a nova bomb has the power of a dying star, a titan bubble creates a separate pocket dimension inside of the bubble. A golden gun shoots with the heat of the sun. A striker titan can move mountains by punching them. Sunsingers can self rez. Just because the flood will know how to use light if it infects a guardian doesn't mean that it physically can.

      • Humans and awokens are susceptible to infection. Ghosts are susceptible to logic plague or can be destroyed. (Remember petra's bombing run) Exos are susceptible to logic plague or can be destroyed. No hope for guardians. So let me know why the hell poll is saying different?

Guardians will win. *THIS IS A BIG READ YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED* So grab a few cupcakes and enjoy. I. GUARDIANS A. Guardian Anatomy A Guardian is decomposed being risen from the dead by the Traveler's Light with the help of a Ghost. Guardians are reanimated corpses with Light being a source of life, power, and intelligence. Guardians are still organic lifeforms, therefore they're prone to infection. Nevertheless, infecting a Guardian won't be an easy task. A simple warlock is considered as a walking God. 1. Humans Humans are the most susceptible to be infected. So, if you're Human, good luck on surviving. 2. Exo Exo can't be infected. This leaves Logic Plague the only option in converting them. The problem with Logic Plague is not an infection, or a malware virus, but rather a way of means to convince intelligent lifeform to join the Flood using logic, reason, and statistics. This process takes time. An Exo is an extremely complex war machine, they're so advanced not even a Ghost can understand them. Ghosts are one of the most smart AI in the Destiny universe, I will talk more about them later. Swaying them join the Flood will take centuries. Plus, Exos were built to fight. So, if they want convince one they will have to subdued them first. In other words, Logic Plague won't work effectily on this guys #ExoMasterRace. 3. Awoken Awoken are mutated Humans. There's a probability they're immune to biological infection. The Flood can't infect everyone, remember St.Johnson? Yeah, he's immune to the Flood infection. Logic Plague will have to take place, they would be easier to persuade than Exos, but can they really? We know little to nothing to Awoken culture, values, and way of life. B. Guardian Arsenal Guardians have Light, Weapons, and Armor. Guardians are relentless as the Flood, but with a major difference. The Flood need biomass to survive, they need a source of energy to live, and that source has limits. Guardians on the other hand, have an unlimited source of power, the Traveler's Light. Guardians don't need food, sleep, or energy to maintain themselves to keep on living, since everything is borrowed from the Traveler. 1.Light Guardians can use Light as a weapon. Four abilities have been confirmed. Grenade, Meele, Jump, and Super. a. Grenade Grenades are strong tools that change the tide of battle, and their never-ending. b. Meele Meele is powerful attack that add boosts to the Guardian, making them stronger, and its infinite. c. Jump Jump gives them mobility and evasive maneuvers, making them harder to kill, and can be use as many time the user wishes so. d. Super Supers are extremely volatile powers that shatters reality, oh they can be re-used millions of times. 2. Weapons Weapons don't have infinite ammo, but some weapons do. Some weapons have Light as a source power. All of these weapons are capable of massive destruction and complete annihilation. The Flood will have a hard time countering these weapons. These weapons have killed Guardians, and Guardians are hard to kill, trans-dimensional beings, time-traveling robots, and an advanced civilized race that destroy planets for lulz. 3. Armor I believe the armor would be useless against the Flood. However, the true power of a Guardian is its shield, made of Light. If the Flood wants to infect a Guardian they'll have break that shield. Give all the reasons above, I don't think the Flood would have an easy time infecting. C. Guardian Strategy Guardians always do their missions in the three or six teams. Titans are master strategists, proven in their amount of battle they have have won. Hunters are scouts, stealth killers, and experts in precision weapons. Warlocks are crazy, smart, and sexy. They have discover talents and powers that we can't possibly imagine. Guardians were able to defeat transcendent foes like Atheon and it's glass squad. They were able to travel back to time and erase history, could the Forerunners and Precursors do that? Nope. Guardians defeated a god in its own dimension with its own rules. A dimension! A dimension that he created himself, and he's the weakest out all of the Hive Pantheon. Name one Halo civilization that were able to build a dimension. Guardian also killed a Vex God, but it was a noob. Guardians are fighting like two Tier 0 enemies, and we are thriving, slowly. D. Extra Facts •Guardians are immortal, as long they have Light within themselves. Any Ghost can revive a dead Guardian. •They're two ways to kill a Guardian. One is not known. The second is Light has been corrupted or consumed by the Darkness. Since, the Flood isn't the Darkness, that means they would never manage to fully kill a Guardian. •If a Guardian is indeed infected. The Flood would know how to use weapons and Light but only infected Guardians, other forms of Flood won't be able to use Light. Light is a form of energy, and the Flood don't have that a source to use that energy. •An infected Guardian can easily be killed other Guardians, these have been proven countless time in the Crucible. Once, an infected Guardian dies, so will the Flood inside of it, but not the Guardian, because the Light wasn't destroyed, a Ghost can revive him/her and they will fight once gain for the Traveler. II. Ghosts Ghosts, although made from mechanical parts, they're also forged of the Traveler's light. Ghosts are way more intelligent than we think do. They're able to understand ancient machinery, crack foreign languages and codes, able to hold vast amounts of data, and repair complex hardware/equipment. Ghosts can achieve this extraordinary feats rapidly. They're so advanced a Ghost was able to capture so much information that they literally broke the laws of physics. He did it in minutes. Our Ghosts has way more knowledge than Mendicant Bias and the Gravemind combined. And Exos are way more complex than Ghosts, lolwut!? 1. Ghosts Facts •Ghosts are open to Logic Plague. But, Ghosts are way more devout than 1D and Justin Bieber fangirls. •Ghosts can and able to delete all known knowledge in an instant before they die. •Ghosts can only be killed by the Darkness or another unknown method. So, the Flood won't have a chance on killing a Ghost and capturing all the sweet intel. ------- EDIT: TL;DR - Guardians wins because we have superior firepower, never ending source of power, and immortality. While Flood, strong and smart as they're. They have limits. Guardians don't. EDIT 2: All of you have given great counter-arguments, and I will answer them the most common ones in my edits. Due to the huge amount of replies, I can't reply to all of you. It doesn't mean I won't reply, I just won't reply to all of you. ○Ghosts can be destroyed by raw force. I won't deny that Petra did successfully killed three fireteams of Guardians and their Ghosts. However, the blast was powerful enough to obliterate a whole valley full of Wolves and their defenses. As a conclusion, Ghosts can indeed be killed by raw force, and that must be plenty of it. I don't think a rocket or few scratches from the Flood will be enough to destroy one. In other case, Ghosts can be rebuilt, how? I don't know, we know that we can, FWC super secret stuff. ○The Flood can infect others, increasing their numbers. Yes, but OP didn't say anything about other factions joining in the fray. This is a 1v1 fight. ○Flood infecting a Guardian will know how to use Supers and weapons. The Flood will know how to use weapons and will use them. They will know about Supers, but they can't use Supers. Supers can only be achieved by the inner Light of the Guardian. Pure Flood lack this Light, therefore they can't use Supers. Infected Guardians can, but they can be easily disposed. // ---Vex are Tier 0 civilization. They can travel through time and dimensions without the need of space ships. Warp instantly through star systems. A Vex axis mind can control millions of Vex units, and each one is capable of predicting the future. They can manipulate life, turning a living organic planet into a machine. Vex arsenal uses an external source of energy that is not found in our own universe, also all of their arsenal are tools and weapons. They have lived more than a billion years. They had already won in different timelines. Atheon almost became the center of the Universe, until Guardians came to kick his ass. ---Hive are Tier 0 civilization. They have a source of unlimited energy, all of their weapons and magic use these. Hive can make wormholes and portals, making transportation almost instantaneous. They can also teleport((I don't know how does that work)). It has been imply that they have destroy many planets. Gods can create dimensions that break the laws of reality. They can reanimate dead matter. We have no idea how old they are. ---Guardians(Humans, etc), Tier 3. Guardians do have a source of unlimited power. Yet, they still need ships to travel to planets. Their weapons still, powerful as they are, requires ammo. They're a new, young, and rebellious generation. Frames are decent robots/AI. Even after all that, they can still manage to survive to fight another day, they might not be winning, but they're not losing either.

The Flood adapts quickly and way too effectively. They will learn that the Ghosts are the key to a Guardian's resurrection after witnessing it a few times. This will lead to them targeting a Ghost. Ghosts do not have offensive capabilities. Raw force can kill a Ghost.

          • Well if a guardian dies by the flood then as long as there's no darkness they can just respawn in 30 seconds or get their light a kick start by another guardians light. Guardians are pretty much reanimated corpses revived by the traveller's light

Considering the flood can take over both covenant and human bodies alike (as well as forerunner) I think they would definitely decimate most of the guardians, and they thought the hive was bad....
then again if master chief AND the arbiter could survive multiple encounters with the flood, as well as sergeant johnson (who Im pretty sure was immune to the flood virus, I mean shit he survived his first flood encounter lord knows jenkins didnt [to some degree, cuz he was still kinda alive but half infected]), I feel like some of the tougher guardians would survive like the vanguard, shaxx, lord saladin, eris etc
• Dude, the flood wrecks guardians. I'm older and remember playing and enjoying halo. You young guys, go get a 360 and pick up the first 3 games. It really is worth it, aside from "destiny vs halo" shit, it's just a great great series of games. It crapped out at some point but i wasn't playing any games during that time i guess.

Guys, I love destiny as much as anyone but seriously? The OP says this is lore-wise, and lore-wise the Flood was designed to be a force so unbelievably overpowered that the only way to beat it is to kill everything with sufficient biomass and/or intelligence to be infectable so that it is starved into dormancy. The Forrunners are more powerful than everything in destiny to the point that the traveler is something a forerunner builder might make in his free time because he's bored. The AI's they built are many thousands of times more powerful than warminds. They were militarily more powerful, and technologically more advanced then everything in the destiny universe combined, and they didn't stand a chance against the Flood. I know the guardians have space magic and whatnot, but the flood is designed to be unbeatable. I know the Master Chief "beat" it, but that's because he had all the plot armor in existence when he did.

                      • Some food for thought. You know how many world sized explosions happened in the Halo series to help solve any problems? And how about Destiny? I mean the solar system seems to be in tact from what I can see. Oh, Mercury was turned into a giant machine by the Vex? Well we can call Master Chief and he'll go to the center of it, plant a bomb and make it out just in time before it blows up. Then the propulsion from the explosion will send him onto Earth where he'll get back up easily and actually explore the damn traveler and the city below it and not look at them from a mile away in awe for an entire year from the tower. Then he'll go to the moon, blow THAT up to get rid of a good chunk of Hive, rip off a pair of arms from all the Kells in the solar system so they all basically become big dregs and rip the masks off of all the Cabal so they die from self esteem issues. Then his reputation would spread so far that any of the races that fight against him will call him "The Demon". All the while Guardians will try to help, but all we're really there for is to say "Hi Chief!" and let him take our weapons while he gives us a shitty pistol with no ammo.
