If Iron Banner has shown us anything it has shown us the ridiculous level of MTU abuse out there. I've not had a single match since last night in which someone has not been impossible to kill yet are able to finish very high up the table if not top.
Bungie claim they ban cheats, however, I don't think Bungie are able to ban MTU abusers, they simply do not have the ability to determine it as cheating. This will continue on Friday when Trials starts and the problem will be exasperated with many adopting an attitude of, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
Who is to blame? Well responsibility for ones actions points to the cheats themselves but if people are thinking that playing fair is becoming counter productive and choosing to cheat then that is down to Bungie, they decided on an inferior system with P2P, they have demonstrated complete inability to deal with the problem, they remain silent despite the torrent of complaints and are seemingly too busy trying to sell us The Taken King. As each day goes by on Iron Banner and each week passes on Trials more and more cheats are being created and its down to Bungie's lack of response right across the board. No proven statistics about bans such as who, what and when, no response to people's complaints and no response to the ultimate question on why they chose P2P (we all know it was money).
Perhaps that is the real crux, at every point Bungie has placed money above everything else, all the interviews and hype and previews of Destiny showed us a game that simply does not exist and every cut corner, cut content, inferior PvP system as demonstrated that money above all else was the governing issue. Bungie employees will be appearing on Ebay for sale soon, certainly their pride has been sold on it.

2 RepliesBut honestly, can they ban people on basis of a altered MTU? Some networks have it altered at the router level and in the case of altering it on the PS4 directly, as far as I know it can help with more stable connections. I'm aware it can be used for the opposite purpose and I am by no means a networking expert, but I was just wondering if/how Bungie can justify a ban solely because of an altered MTU.?
-
8 RepliesThey also aren't banning people who have eyeballs and people who use standard ps4 and xb1 controllers and people who use their hands to play, yep none of them are getting banned, I don't do it but all I'm trying to say is its not technically illegal from what I've heard from people

12 RepliesI don't know if it's lag related or what, but during a match I died and when I spawned, I literally spawned right on top of an enemy so I didn't have a second to react. Gave me one blast with a shot gun and I was dead again. Anyone ever experience this?

9 RepliesMTU Settings? Someone please explain.

If 100+ people report the same asshole, bungie will ban him. I faced a few people like this last week in trials. Extremely annoying

He gets down on all fours and breaks into a sprint. He's gaining on you. Shia Labeouf. You're looking for your car, But you're all turned around. He's almost upon you now And you can see there's blood on his face! My god, there's blood everywhere! Running for your life (From Shia Labeouf.) He's brandishing a knife. (It's Shia Labeouf.) Lurking in the shadows Hollywood superstar Shia Labeouf. Living in the woods, (Shia Labeouf.) Killing for sport, (Shia Labeouf.) Eating all the bodies Actual, cannibal Shia Labeouf. 17 RepliesLowering your MTU may affect your connection. Let's look at it from a technical stand point. Yes, I'm a senior network engineer, so I know what I'm talking about. Smaller MTU = faster connection, in exchange for more packets. Since the standard MTU for most connections is 1500 bytes, lowering your MTU will result in a faster connection time to most servers. This is because since your packet is smaller, in takes less time for routers on the internet to serialize your packet unto an interface. However, just because it's faster, doesn't mean is better. Before it would take 10 packets to reach a server, now it may take 20 since you are sending less information. Bigger MTU = slower connection, in exchange for more packets. Since technically you are sending bigger packets, it'll take longer for those packets to serialize on a router's interface. Also, a bigger packet is subject to fragmentation. If a packet is 1700 bytes, but a router is configured for 1500, the router now has to break up that packet; 1 packet of 1500 bytes, 1 packet of the extra 200 bytes. Before, it would take 10 packets to reach a server, now it may take 5 since you are sending more information. With this been said, is a bigger/smaller MTU really matter? Yes. A smaller MTU means more packets; with online gaming, you moving out of the way of a bullet may take extra packets to process, thus you move on your screen, but no on the opponent's screen. With a bigger MTU is may be different; if you experience fragmentation along the game, you will have the same effect. I'd like to point out that with any network, it is almost impossible to correctly asses an issue. There are too many variables involved in getting a packet router through the internet. The best I can say is, set your MTU to its default; whatever your PS4 chooses to. Mine is set at 1490.

Re: MTU, what if Bungie required a minimum, like Xbox Live (1384 I believe). Unfortunately it will block a handful of legitimate players, but would arguably preserve the integrity of the game. I guess it comes down to what Bungie values and what they are willing to sacrifice.

They tweeted a bit ago they are banning for network manipulation ...
-
I'm sorry but this must be done. YOU ARE A FÜCKING SCRUB if you manipulate MTU for personal gain and/or cheating. You are a disgrace and deserve and ban. I find it hilarious that people are that bad at crucible, that they need to stoop to this level. Fücking Dickheads. I love this game but why do we have to deal with people like this in our community, it truly saddens me what gamers have become.

1 ReplyKeep making post crying about it so everyone finds out, that ought to fix it

Congratulations on the more exclusive content. Only on playstation.

Edited by Jeff the Cabal: 7/29/2015 5:27:17 PMNot all laggers are cheating. Iron banner, or just crucible in general has always been laggy. It only takes one person in the lobby to ruin the connection for everyone. Many of the times if there is more then one the whole lobby will be red barring. Lag could be caused by other players. Lag could be caused by someone Connection which most times they don't have control over. Lag could be caused by bungie, we can't all blame cheaters for lagging. I see where you're coming from. I hate laggers, it pisses me off a lot, but you can't jump to conclusion someone is cheating. I lag, you lag, we all have lagged at one point. I normally just report someone for "bad connection" if they have been lagging around the whole game.

10 RepliesOh look! Another Playstation Exclusive
-
The worst part is, can Bungie even "fix" this? This all seems more of a Playstation issue not a game issue.
-
Did you ever consider that developers are probably the ones cheating?
-
YOU IDIOT HAHAHAH jk
-
Report function. This will unfortunately take time to verify if they are doing it.
-
Why would they try to make money? Oh yeah. Maybe you should move on. This is clearly not the game for you
