What determines who holds the flag at the beginning of a match?
I know it's a stupid question but it's so damn interesting and cool when you're in a fireteam with your friends and you're the chosen one to obtain the flag.
[b]I know for a fact that it's not Level because my whole fireteam was 34 and I was not the one with the highest Grimore yet I got the flag.[/b]

1 ReplyThis is a more literal answer rather than a joke. I'm pretty sure it goes off medal score in the crucible. I think this as back in the day when Destiny was just released, I never held the flag. As I played more with different guns and styles, I got better which got me more medals therefore adding to my skill. After I improved, i saw myself creeping forward until I held the flag for once. That is all I have to say. Good day.

It's not grimoire. I was playing IB today and had almost the least amount of grimoire in my 6 man group. I think kd in that game type, because I usually play clash and always hold it but not as often as in control

I've noticed that I will hold the flag following a match where I kicked ass. This happens fairly consistently, so I think it might have to do with level of contribution to the previous match?

3 RepliesIm the type of guy to relate things to cod alot, i call the p&t the intervention and call rockets rpgs, the new ttk sidearm is the usp 45, i even try to quickscope and go for trickshots, its pretty cool that destiny has some cod easter eggs, i mean one of the new ttk weapons is the kf5 from cod aw, not only that, icebreaker is the scavenger weapon from Call of the Dead zombies map, and pulse rifles are m16 reskins, whats cool is Bf4 had a ak47 but called an94 for some reason and hardlight was a hint that SW Battlefront was gonna happen(mindblown) but hey the term CLIP is a term in trickshotting. Whats cool is that TLW was inspired by the remington pistol in buried, cool huh? And thorn was inspired by nova gas, whats cool was that the character Menendez from Bo2 was an inspiration for atheon, both created their own armies to rebel against USA( black garden) Destiny was also inspired by specialist and thier specials in Black ops 3( smash, self rez, one shot pistol) its amazing how gamng companies help each other out Edit: zachaev from cod 4 has the same role as crota, both die and their fathers get revenge, makarov and oryx (mindblown)

I know level is first but the second part can't just be random. When my team and I play I'm always the flag carrier. I never noticed til one of them pointed it out. We have yet to figure it out but I highly doubt the same person carrying is random.

Not sure. If I go into a match holding the flag, I will continue being the flag bearer regardless of how I do. The only time it changes is when I switch gear to where I'm not 34 or i leave.

33 RepliesI believe it is the person with the best k/d from the last game. I hold it a lot and I typically don't have the highest points in the last game but often have the best k/d.

Highest level. Grimoire doesn't mean anything. More than one of a level, it randomly chooses one.

Some people here say it's grimoire score and others say it's based on looks, but they're all [b]wrong[/b]. As a person with maxed grimoire score/pretty decent looking characters, I can say that the person who holds the flag is usually the highest leveled person on the team. If the team is all 34s, one person will be selected at random to hold the flag.

It actually is the highest level. If more than one gaurdian are tied with the highest level then it rotates out between them

It's completely random, I run a group of 6 in the crucible, all lol 34 and I have the lowest grimiore and I get to hold it sometimes

Tested it a few times. It's simply level and when they're the same its random. In some tests it felt alphabetical but that was just by chance. It's as simple as the highest level gets it then if they're the same its random.

And if it ties up being equal grimore score between two players, it will choose the higher level.
