I can now see why people want only level 34 vets in VoG
Played with this group of mixed levels last night and they all -blam!-ing blowed. Couldn't even get pass the confluxes.
If you are a level 34 and have not completed VoG or Crota on hard (even normal for that matter), you have no bragging rights.
Day One Guardian's will understand.

I was a level 30 yesterday. Btw I switched to ps4 on Wednesday I have tons of experience in vog. Everyone thought I was a noob, but i instructed them on what to do. I also died once, and that was for making up for my team's mistake. Don't judge experience by grimiore and or level.

As a strict relic and sword runner it's difficult to lead a bunch of noobs to do right. I find it quite difficult but if you have the patience you can show them right. What to do and how to do and gain a raid buddy for life. I would suggest taking the time to help these people, although hard it is very rewarding and some people just can't learn so get rid of them swiftly don't waste time but be patient.

Ya i miss doing VOG. Cant really do it anymore cause i cant carry 5 people through confluxes and oracles lol although me and this kid helped out 4 newbies on vog normal and only one of them had a mic. they did pretty well. We beat it within an hr and a half

I explained to him you have to shoot them quickly and get out or you'll run out of time. Nope he kept on doing it slowly. He was even telling people to stop shooting atheon, that was making the oracles appear faster lol. Finally with only one shot left to kill atheon. I'm quickly killing oracles but he refused to cleanse me because I was moving too fast. " See what happens when you don't listen to me, now your blind". What an asshole, that was it I finally left. Advice to noobs watch youtube before you go into VOG. It will make it a lot easier and you'll avoid bad party leads...

I didn't start raiding until pretty late. It's easy to forget for those of us on this forum, but if you don't have friends playing and you don't have experience with lfg forums, you hit some stopping points due to lack of matchmaking. For a while there, I would try to find Nightfall teammates in the tower. I'd spam invites and usually, was able to do NF. I tried it once with Crota's End, but I had no idea what I was getting into. I thought it was just another strike. One guy joined me, then we realized we were in over our heads and left. Did Seige of Warmind instead. After a while, I was embarrassed to admit I didn't know how to do raids, since I was fairly high level by that point. But I bit the bullet and did some Crota strikes ... not so bad. I still didn't do VoG until recently, because from reading guides, it sounded very detailed, and I didn't want to be the idiot who screwed things up for the team. I finally did VoG when a RL friend invited me and walked me through it. After that, I felt comfortable enough to do lfg. At this point, I'm comfortable with both though I still don't run sword and I'd only be relic bearer in a pinch. I'm fairly lucky with drops. I have HoC, BH, Fang, FB, VoC, Vex Mythoclast, and assorted other stuff I don't use as much (Oversoul Edict, Praedyth's Revenge, Found Verdict, Song of Ir Yut). So, I feel like it's worked out for me. But I think the barrier to entry to raids is a problem Bungie should ponder. You look here and you think everyone has three 34s with high grimoire, but Bungie needs to cater to a larger group. We are self-selected. We are on this forum because we are kind of obsessed with this game. We are not numerous enough to support a game with this kind of marketing and budget. I don't know the solution, but I know from my own experience, feeling like I couldn't do the raids for so long was very disappointing.

1 ReplyIf you're good yourself then you can carry most of the bad players through just about anything. My friend and I wanted to go for a flawless raider trophy from crota normal earlier. Last time we attempted to 2 man, and ended up dying on crota himself, so we decided to pick up a random for just that extra bit of dps or mob distractions. Well it turned out that the guy we picked up never actually did crota before at all, but he was willing to listen and take the time for a flawless run. The first two attempts didn't go well, one of us died in the abyss, and then on 2nd attempt one of us died in shrieker hallway. However on the third attempt we got the flawless trophy. I feel that goes to show that if you just take your time to properly explain and help inexperienced players, they can accomplish just about anything that a vet would.

3 Replies@bungie: please for newcomer in september set this rules to go over light 30 you have to complete the VoG hard to go over 32 you have to complete crota hard to go over 34 you have to complete POE 34 at least otherwise, you cant reach the max light

My friend just started about 2 weeks ago, and I got him hooked up with some of my other friends from my main fireteam. He already has Hawkmoon, Ice Breaker, Gjallarhorn, and other exotics that I don't even own yet. And he's gone flawless twice, and maxed all 3 of his characters. Mad props to him.

I don't look at the level...I look at grimore. I have seen a crap load of SUB 2000 scores...that tells me that even at 34 they have barely done anything. Not an issue really, as long as they listen and try to learn while we take them through.

2 RepliesI actully did the same last night with a group of new players it was only on normal but we didnt even wipe untill the gorgons maze which took a few trys because one guy wouldn't follow instructions. After we all knifed him for getting seen the 7th he finally followed me like everyone else and we got threw it. You just need to be a good sherpa and explain everything they have to do.

Most of the people I find on LFG for VoG are inexperienced, regardless of their level. It feels like most of the "vets" either don't bother with VoG anymore, or have spent enough time on Destiny to make a bunch of friends and no longer use LFG. Out of the 9 randoms my team picked up from LFG the last few weeks for VoG, 4 of them were first timers and a few were very inexperienced. Which is fine, considering how much of a cake walk VoG is nowadays, but just a trend I've noticed.

Exactly. It was astonishing to me how I had a group of full 34s and yet I was the only one during the gatekeeper checkpoint to bother opening the gates getting ONE of the relics and they proceeded to watch and just shoot things they saw me with the relic and went to the middle I'm like where the other relic? Long story short I couldn't do it all in my own. I died and they didn't bother picking up the relic or even getting the other one. And we wipes. I couldn't deal with it and left

I still have to do it on hard on my 4th character today try to do it earlier barely anybody was on so I used LG took forever to get 6 people in there they would stay for about 2 minutes and then leave it was a bunch of bullshit I'll try again later tonight
