Is buying the armor from the trials guy and dismantling it the best way to get class materials?
Glimmer isn't an issue for me, just wondering if this is an efficient way to get class materials?
Edit: Just to clarify I made a warlock and a hunter a few weeks back. The warlock is ok on materials, but I barely play on my hunter and he was pretty short last night. He only had about 16 Sapphire wire so that's why I asked and I ended up doing this method and now have over 100 so I'm good for now. Thanks everyone for the other tips!

2 RepliesHmmmmm..... And already you've got over 5,000 crucible kills with each character in your post. Let say that you are fairly skilled, and pull out 25 kills a game. Let's say you could play one game every 10 minutes (you can't, but let's say). That's 150 kills per hour. At least let's just say it is. That's over 33 hours straight play time for each character. That's over 66 hours playing in just the crucible. Let's say it takes about 5 hours to get each character through the story and hit level 20. That's 76 hours playtime. Noticed each character has over 10,000 kills PVE too. Not counting your time to 20, that's approx another 75 hours or so as well. So... We can summarize that you've spent over 150 hours in these two characters alone. Never mind. I've spent more time debunking your post than you spent bunking it. Either way, your post is BUNK.

Run strikes. Get flooded by engrams. Decrypt and dismantle. Now you have a high cryptarch lvl and class meterials.

What I do when I get low Vanguard Quartermaster in the tower (Hanger area) sells green Helms for 250 I fill up the 9 slots Do some patrol bounties and swap the helms as they level DO NOT spend glimmer to upgrade them, just make sure they unlock the perk Dismantle You will get 2-3 (very very random 4) class mats per Do the same with any green or blue drops you get while just messing around to keep the stacks high

I would say so, Each piece of armor is like 500 glimmer right? dismantling should get you at least 2 saphire wire a piece. only other option is run a lot of strikes or use marks to buy them from crucible, faction or vanguard.

This is how i get all my weapon parts and class materials. Ive mained a warlock since day 1, but only recently have i leveled my titan and warlock. I had a ton of gear for each character, but really struggled leveling it all up and i took me ages to hit 34 just because of the class mats. At the weekend i managed to find a team willing to play ToO with me while my titan was only a 31, soon as i hit 5 wins i was instantly a 34 as i could upgrade all my gear. Must have spent over 100k glimmer just on wep parts and mats!

2 RepliesStrikes drop lots of green/blue engrams. Wear them and turn in bounties. Dismantle. You do not need to purchase upgrades, just fill the bubbles with xp. You get about 2x the class materials this way. Do same thing with green weapons for weapon parts if you are addicted to reforging like myself :)

1 ReplyEdited by Sanctus Michael: 7/28/2015 12:10:19 PMWhen you go to turn in a bounty, equip green or blue armor then turn in the bounty (I'm assuming your legendary and exotic are all leveled up and you don't need the xp to go there). The xp from the bounty will go to the green or blue armor. Once the bounties are turned in, dismantle the armor. You will get more mats from them. This works for weapons too. No point in wasting xp from bounties on armor and weapons that are already maxed. Any item doesn't need to be completely unlocked to get the most mats. If you have multiple items of the same type, put 1 or 2 bounties in each. You can't get more than 3 armor mat pieces or weapon parts from any one item anyway, including legendary and exotics.

1 ReplyIf you only have one or two toons? the best way is to start another toon and just go out killing. Fresh charterers get tons of drops. If you have all 3 toons, then remove almost all your armor and weapons from one toon and then go hunting. He will get tons of drops. The best way to farm materials is on Venus. Go to the ember caves and start running and opening chest in all the caves in that area. Do this till a pike shows up in one of the caves. Then jump on the pike and go to one of the locations where enemies respawn pretty fast. Then just sit on your pike and keep blowing everything away as it pops up.

If glimmer is no issue then you might as well. Other than that dragon strikes would be your best bet

I made a Titan before HoW and never had a material shortage. Just pick up all the stuff that drops, buy green stuff from vanguard etc. Also if you get engrams on another class, just put them in your vault and decrypt with the one that needs it.

If it's efficient for you go for it! I'd rather get a green weapon, turn in one 5k bounty and get another green, turn in one 5k bounty. Some are more efficient and cost friendly, but it takes note effort than just spam buying lol. ~[i]TheGreatNike[/i]

Spam POE 28, you'll get royal amethyst. Or however you spell that word. That or farm fallen on Venus with a glimmer buff
