So I picked up Patience and Time from Xur this weekend and have been screwing around with it as of late.
While I'm not Kjhovey's level of ridiculousness I have been doing reasonably well at training myself to rapid sight in and take out the NPC' in the game.
That said. I'm wondering how much of this translates to Crucible play.
Obviously, there are times where you literally have fractions of a second to respond against intelligent players. I know nothing will beat actual fights in the crucible, but I'm curious if I should continue practicing at popping Fallen heads (most comparable to guardians from what I can tell) or should I just force myself to learn by throwing myself right into the fire.

Here's another https://youtu.be/hyPq-1hghSg One of the biggest tips is to just use cover and corners correctly

5 RepliesPractice in crucible only. Pve doesn't translate well to pvp. Here is a video of me sniping. Notice how I sweep the aimer a lot. Practice that. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IIPS8_WJ06E

I think it is handy initially but you'll see diminished returns if you do it too much. Tbh I'd play skirmish and rumble as you can get legit decent gunfights in those and it will improve your whole game

Beware of the 'throwing arms in despair ' action the Dregs (and Vandals) do on realizing they're going into a space burger.. If not careful, you might be waiting for dudes in Crucible to do the same when you aim down on them...before pulling the trigger..
Apart from that.. well its hard to say. But practice in Crucible to avoid picking up any unhelpful training from PvE, really
3 RepliesTarget practice against AI will give you a good idea of how your weapon will perform so you can tweak your quickscoping and shot leading skills but nothing really preps you for a human opponent that does absolutely nothing that you expect him to do. You need live fire in the PvP. Gaining map familiarity so that you are aware of good sniper nests and where chokepoints are will be most beneficial to your success as a PvP sniper.

1 ReplyTake into consideration AIs have programmed patterns

1 ReplyUse the fallen but get close enough that they see you and shoot you then try it while moving because that's how pvp is

It's actually a good idea to practice in Patrols. However, the only thing I would advise you is to use a good legendary sniper as opposed to Patience and Time. It's an excellent sniper, but I wouldn't use my exotic slot on it in PvP if am trying to do well.

2 RepliesI think that using a weapon against ads first is a great way to get a feel for your shiny new weapon. However, don't take success against the fallen as anything comparable to a crucible match. Keep fighting the good fight against those fallen scum and good luck in the crucible.
