I will be very disappointed in such a move by Bungie. But I will be staying. The thing that I would like Bungie to understand is that they don't have to take away the old weapons, just make new ones that compete for use. If that means that there are a bunch of rocket launchers that dish out death like the Gjallarhorn, then that's for the better. If that means there are more snipers that allow a player to sit and camp in PvE like they do with Icebreaker, then that's for the better. If there are more hand cannons that are 'OP' in crucible like Thorn and The Last Word, then that's for the better. "Why," you ask Bungie? Because it gives you the opportunity to create bosses and levels that deny doing the things that allow players to just rocket the boss to death, to be unable to just sit back and snipe. To level the playing field in crucible by making a greater variety (and therefore more accessible) 'OP' weapons. It gives you, Bungie, the opportunity to make the game more challenging, engaging and fun. Taking things away from your customers will only serve to frustrate, annoy, and anger them to the point that they give up/leave. Loosing customers is bad bussiness. Loosing customers where they will tell their friends that "Bungie/Destiny sucks," is bad business. Loosing customers is loosing revinue. Make a good business decision, make your customer base happy. Comunication is key. If you're not taking year one weapons away (which seeing as you are debuffing them I think is not at least the immediate case) then you defiantly need to communicate that to your customers. I hope you read this, that someone who is concerned at Bungie, I really do, and I hope you take my advice.
