(Reopened and Revised)
Personally I believe that the DLC was not Disc Locked. The Terminus (An Area in the HoW) was changed right before HoW dropped and each DLC was preceded by a multigig patch. Yes, The areas existed in the game but only as placeholders for the final product ie. The Terminus.
As for content shown at E3, that was "Cut Content" but that happens to most.. If not all games a year or two before release.
Discuss below.
Everything you all have posted as "proof" of cut content is in fact only proof of concept.
Every industry starts with a product concept that can go through many developmental stages before the company makes a final decision based on that concept.
Car companies will dump massive amounts of money into building a fully functional concept car that may or may not be mass produced. Sometimes the car idea is shelved for a number of years before its mass produced, other times its just forgotten altogether.
Movies are done the same way, millions of dollars are spent recording each movie that ends up averaging 3-4 hours long. But when it hits the theaters its only an hour and a half or two hours. When the "Special Collector's Edition with 4 hours of bonus content" comes out, you don't whine about paying full price for the theater ticket and two to three times that amount for the movie with bonus content. Then complain that there was cut content...
Point is, quoting videos 2 years before game launch, along with quoting interviews about the game way before launch, only shows proof of concept.
proof of concept is NOT proof anything was cut from the final game
Because I can
how about this, instead of searching old videos of Destiny and complaining how Bungie ripped you off why don't you enjoy the game we have, or if you're too caught by the concept, go find something else to do
1 Reply1) OP asks for proof of something. 2) Proof is provided. 3) OP changes the requirements for what is considered proof. 4) Thread continues.

6 RepliesPeople accessed Seraphim Vault and Kings Watch during the beta. There were no patches during the beta. The content was there. It might not have been the complete content but a majority was there just waiting for enemies to be dropped in which is a simple spawn code. Of course, some areas already had enemies in them, too.

how about this, instead of searching old videos of Destiny and complaining how Bungie ripped you off why don't you enjoy the game we have, or if you're too caught by the concept, go find something else to do
two problems.. 1#: a load of people bought Destiny for "exploration" , "character customization", "rich lore" , "cinematic experience" , "hours of hours on story do unfold", "social interaction" etc.. which are the main parts that are missing in the game although they have been advertised and still are advertised (for example by deej in his interviews) at the moment .. which is simply not true.. there is no story told in the DLC, no background information in TDB or HoW about "the World".. 2#: apart from some leftovers like DoA, ESO and other games, the game landscane is currently EMPTY.. i am waiting for Mass Effect Andromeda, Mirrors edge, The Division, Fallout 4 and uncharted 4.. but they havent arrived yet.. and one point on plus: its been the complainers that gave you vault space.. that gave you rerollable weapons (which think was a bad idea since now i dont need any new guns anymore) and the view / skyboxes and the basic mechanics are good.. but the simple lack of content is overwhelming.. maps are 1/10th of the size they need to be.. boss mechanics are all "shoot that fella" (insetad of epic bossfights like Mass ffect 3 (remember the reaper figth with the giant Threaser maw? AWESOME! without shooting the boss.. still perfect)

1 ReplySo you're telling me bungie is just horribly inept? And they intentionally released destiny thinking it was a complete and coherent game?
-
1 ReplyIf you think that bungie managed to create db, how, and now ttk since vanilla from scratch your mistaken. Considering how much of a grind the game is they created it the pre vanilla launch and tweaked etc and made them timed releases so you weren't overwhelmed by too much end game grinding all at once. Made a few extra bob from it too

1 ReplyI totaly agree with you can you bump my post so I can help you defend against these retards

2 RepliesI think data that takes place on the disc and is only accessible in a dlc takes away from data that could have been there and enjoyed since launch, thereby reducing total content(if they had such content to fill with) ...regardless of the rest of the story scenes were there are not, it can be re-said as "Disc includes 50% of DLC content to speed up download process at a later date(separate purchase required)" Doesn't sound so nice either, could of had more patrol variety and explorable environments.
-
Lol. Stay small people and keep simple... You'd be crying a lot more if they didn't pre plan their expansions and had long dry periods of time between dlc drops
-
Truly without a shadow of doubt, by far, the most ridiculous analogy used to date.

9 RepliesEdited by Black the Sun: 7/26/2015 6:55:38 PMWell there's more than just The Terminus, which yes - was drastically changed after it was officially released, I got to see first-hand how much that it had. But what about every other story mission related areas such as King's Watch, Seraphim's Vault, Jovian Complex, and The Wakening missions? They did not change, and could have easily been explorable through glitches since the launch of Destiny. And I wouldn't really call it a placeholder if you can actually play in that area. I understand games have planned DLC's, so there's going to be some remnant data hidden on the base game that refers to them. But it does it no justice to gray the areas between what's clearly locked away, and what's planned for the future.

2 RepliesWatch this video. The "dlc" missions are already listed and in the same locations as they are now. This stuff was already made but held back. At 1:20 you'll see the raid that was pulled from house of wolves, and toward the end you'll see trials of osiris. They both offered ascendant materials as rewards, which shows that they were developed before launch. This stuff was ready in September! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c-osssAKgEc

3 RepliesTell me that isn't false advertising/cut content lol.
-
2 RepliesThe whole story was reworked. Content was cut, Grimoire cards were added to try to patch a story together. If you need proof that content has been, and will continue to be cut, I point you in the direction of the HOW raid.

How many things do you recognize? :)

Edited by Sideswipe: 7/26/2015 9:09:52 PMSome are just so ignorant to think "oh look at the awesome pre-order sales! ". Lets cut some content before next weeks release and sell it later. Not how it works. When they announced TTK, TDB, HoW and even vanilla, the finishing touches were being added and the rest of the staff was busy on future products ... Can't just cut a bunch stuff out on a whim... PS. Those old videos people have latched onto are, IMHO, the reason we now get few details on new expansions until just before launch. Don't want people thinking we screwed them because they misunderstood something ...
-
1 ReplyIf any assets for DLC were included on the disc, people assume that all of it is locked. There is little critical thinking involved when people have made up their minds.

6 RepliesWhat does a multi gig update have to do with content not being cut? Clearly of they cut it out, they gave to put it back right? Your justification is invalid.
