No one is stopping you but if they become unupgradable then good luck on doing future content.

You can still use it no one is stopping you, but other weapons will be better, if they allow for upgrades there is no room for expansion

But that's the problem, the weapons have NOT gotten better, if we had better weapons nobody would be complaining
