That isn't going to happen. They already announce the gun fixes and nerfs to our guns now. The 2.0 patch won't come out until right before TTK. Why would they nerf gjallarhorn if two weeks later it would become un-upgradable

Because they want you to get the new weapons. If Gjallarhorn and everything else is useless, you'll actually have a reason to get the new stuff. Personally I'm gone though and not buying TTK.

It's sad they are nerfing the only viable PvE weapons instead of actually making ones that are GOOD
