That's because you activated your super expecting a few easy kills and let him get close enough. If you kept your distance you would've been fine while you're super wad active

How am I supposed to know (even when playing with a full fireteam) when my teammate is going to use their super?

If you see anyone on your radar you should try to use your mobility more often or just stay as far back as you can(by that I'm talking about when they are in your line of sight)
