If Year 1 Guns Become Non-Upgradable
If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.

Im fairly sure Bungie already said this. 365 is the cap for all Year One weapons, and anything after will be stronger Year Two weapons.

Exotics will always be upgradable, otherwise they aren't exotic. Who cares about legendaries, I'm sharding all mine when I get Taken King weapons. No regrets.

Exotics should move on everything else should go All good rpg/mmo good guns swords bows they get lost in time. I haven't been exited about a weapon drop since nechrochasm(I know it sucks) My point no one will care about the new weapons if the old stuff out classes it

I'll be pretty pissed if the year two game is just a case of "upgrade your old shit" and get to max level cap in a matter of days, that would be boring and very lazy on Bungies part. I do miss the light level grind believe it or not, where hitting level 30 actually meant something. As long as my old armory is of some use to begin with that's all that matters. Bring on the new shit, all day long!!!

I'm hoping they're all left behind. I've loved using them all since launch but am excited for new stuff. Keeping the same old tired worn out weapons is not that interesting. I say scrap all of them and offer new stuff

I personally want to use my Year 1 guns in Year 2. Why does every encounter have to be different just because of the guns we use? It should be about the experience, not the arsenal you use to conquer it. Guns will always be similar, so why not allow us to rock our Visions? Our black hammers? From what I imagine, the Taken can teleport and protect themselves quite well from crits, so we need all the firepower and comfort that we have secured ourselves. Don't make our first year redundant for the sake of new adventures.

Highly doubt they'll phase out exotics out. But I hope all legendary weapons become useless in year two. I want to feel like I'm playing a new game. Not the same one I've been playing for a year. So a switch over in weapons and redo of the UI etc. Is all good to me. But each to their own. I just don't want to go into year two using all the same guns since launch. Sounds pretty boring to me.

It will just be another year to year game like cod, grind and grind to start all over. It will get old quick for me if they phase out original weapons. I had hoped this game was going to be unique and grow as one big game rather than basically a new have ever year

I think exotics will be upgradable but all the old legendary weapons will be replaced by new ones.

When theres plenty of old stuff (like in year 3/4) and we start feeling nostalgic, then implement a system tha lets us use old weapon/armour skins with new armour stats

The new system is far more interesting and something to build on for a game with a ten year plan. The year one system was obsolete month 4 and is way over due.

3 RepliesIm pretty sure that DeeJ said in an interview at E3, that they were going to phase out all of our Year 1 weapons. I doubt they will phase out Exotics, maybe an upgrade path will be introduced with TTK for them or with the 1st Year 2 DLC. Just get ready to dismantle most of your Year 1 Legendary Weapons

5 RepliesThe Dark below dlc weapons and gear were higher than vanilla destiny. Only when House of wolves came out could you upgrade VoG gear ect. HoW gear is automatically higher level than previous stuff, to compensate for higher level activities. When the Taken King cones out, the new activities will be much higher levels and the gear that's coming out with the dlc will reflect that aswell. A 365 weapon or light 42 armour piece will not be that effective with the new raid, strikes, later story missions ect. So obviously the new gear will be need to be better than anything currently available. Folk need to grow up and quit crying over a game. If you don't want your Fatebringer ect to be obsolete after almost a year of playing, then don't use it for the TTK quests or raid, it'll still be useful for all current activities which will still be accessible.
