If Year 1 Guns Become Non-Upgradable
If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.

7 RepliesThey should only allow Raid Legendarys and all Exotics to upgrade to TTK status. Anything that doesn't fit that gets left behind for new Legendarys.

1 ReplyIt certainly doesn't bother me leaving old weapons behind. But the real problem so far for me and that most players are blind enough to don't realize the fact that Bungie's new weapons are trash compare to old ones. If Bungie would create a new "Gjallarhorn" or a new "Fatebringer" than I wouldn't have the need for those old weapons and I would crave and grind for the new beasts. Is that the case so far with both DLCs we've had...hell no! That's why I want my old weapons and I love them and use them because they're better than any new weapon. If Bungie brings the same shit weapons as usual and we can't ascend old ones than I'll be pissed and really start thinking about the fun I'm actually going to have and consider quitting the game.

Then I get to start collecting all the new legendaries and exotics, I'm pumped as well cause taken King is coming out right when my works slow seasons starts, lots of extra days off:D

I will stay, but only if the new weapons are worth the grind. That will be my key metric.

I think legendaries should max at 365 but exotics can move forward. Let Destiny 2 be where the exotics get left behind.

I'm not sure I'd stay. I love this game but I can't delete weapons I've put so much time in for. They'd have to make a huge vault space.

For people saying that playing with the same guns expansion to expansion would be boring: that choice should be ours. If Bungie decides to make better guns than our current ones, then yes, old guns will no doubt be replaced. All signs point otherwise. Each expansion has been largely underwhelming (barring a few exceptions: Banner weapons, BH, Trials weapons, etc). Forcing us to discard amazing weapons just because of damage level increase and use their new ones is constricting, and negates all the work we've done earning, upgrading, rerolling, etc. And even if the new weapons are great, it's counterproductive, and makes you immediately feel like "why should I even bother anymore, because these weapons will be irrelevant in merely a year as well."

Exotics will probably carry over, but with all MMO style games, generally expansion weapons and vanilla gear are left behind when new gear comes out. It's still useful and relevant to an extent but the new gear will be replacing the old gear. But, who knows what they will do.

I will keep playing but I'd be very surprised if Year 1 exotics were left behind or if Year 1 Raids were suddenly obsolete. Exotics and Raids should always be relevant. Just imagine VoG and Crotas End, arguably the two best bits of content in Year 1, were left to rot?

It'd be better if they at least gave like a trophy room to store those old useless exotics.

It won't effect me too much. I don't plan to buy TTK and I only play crucible only. If that was the case though it would kill PVE for me and I would have no reason to do it.

It's similar in pretty much every mmo.. New content sees new weapons and such and old gear becomes redundant. I admit Destiny isnt really an mmo but it feels like that's what they are going for.

You acting like exotics are hard to get and 80% of them are actually useless. There are plenty of legendary weapons that are better Than most exotics.

I doubt exotics will be nonupgradeable. Why would they tweak them so much?

Sounds super boring to use the same stuff... I'd rather get new stuff and upgrade it, that's part of the fun, I don't know about you but I don't find it very fun using the same stuff over and over again...

I'm on the fence about this. I'd love to keep some guns and use them still but I'd also like to see what cool new ones are coming out. I think if anything the raid weapons should be allowed to be upgraded though

I don't really care about the legendaries, but the exotics should be able to be upgraded. It just makes sense that they stay the best
