If Year 1 Guns Become Non-Upgradable
If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.

I will stay as long as it's fun. Using the same old gear for 10 years would be boring as crap. What's the point of new content of you just stick to all the old stuff? Everything changes and it always will.

I actually like getting cool new gear in rpgs so I hope the old guns aren't better than the new ones

I'll stay, but I'll be sad. :( I mean, stat-wise, some gun classes just keep getting worse and worse. (Mainly looking at hand cannons) Hopefully the new wave of weapons will be good again.

As long as ww get vault space to cope with the tear two weapons i wouldn't mind as I'm not deleting any of my current weapons

Doubt they would make exotics useless. Even then, if they did, I would assume the new exotics to be more than capable for the new content, so it doesn't matter to me. Course, that is coming from someone who has played a couple MMOs so it's a staple for them to make old gear obsolete.

Honestly, I doubt that Bungie would just up and throw out all their old Exotics. That would be too... Wasteful. Legendaries, on the other hand, I can understand Bungie making those obsolete.

I've been here since day one. I have every exotic except Necochasm and Dreg's Promise. Most of the armor, but couldn't care less about the pieces I'm missing. I may or may not be here for the next expansion, but my decision has nothing to do with the stuff. For me, it's not about the pixels. I play with a great group of guys. If they continue to play, then so will I. If they don't, well, this community is just too toxic to bother starting over by finding new friends.

I was thinking about this earlier, at this point in time I'm less than interested in skolas and house of judgement weapons because they hold no advantage over previous "raid" weapons. If the weapon progression had halted at each dlc then people would want a void aegis of the kell with shank burn because of the burn and 365. The rubbish perk wouldn't matter, like the word of crota precision perk wasn't good but it was a 331 void primary so it was coveted. The ascension model basically removed the need to do a 35 PoE because the rewards weren't needed. The sole reason to beat skolas is for bragging rights not the weapons. Maybe removing the ability to ascend weapons beyond now will make the taken king refreshing and the rewards relevant again. Saying that I would be gutted if exotics were to be "frozen in time".

If there wasn't an upgrade path, releasing a weapon balancing patch mere weeks before The Taken King would have been kind of pointless, right?

2 RepliesWell, I need to get 3 As and a B in A level sciences and maths to get a chance of getting into medschool (starting A levels next year). So I won't be able to play many games or any games at all so it doesn't bother me anymore

I understand how hard a lot of people have worked for their weapons, my good friend spent 300 hours alone trying to get ghally. But I honestly wouldn't mind if they weren't upgradable. It would get people to use new weapons instead of playing with the same ones in pve. I don't understand why people want to pay for content and not experience it in its entirety.

I hope they implement a limit system for upgrading legendary year 1 weapons and gear along. Bring all your old stuff with you but on allow 2 of each type of weapon and 2 of each type of armor to be upgraded to year 2 max or something like that. Give me another reason to play new content. Exotics should all be brought along but upgrading should come with a heavy price (15k glimmer and a few shards or stat reset or something). It should not be easy to upgrade them. Earn the right to carry the 400-plus-or-whatever damage weapon you want or just use them at 365. Honestly, the first damage increase probably wont effect anything except trials. PvE is easy now with 331 weapons that are not ascended and PvP is level-balanced for everything except trials. #bringthehate

Exoitics will defintly be upgradeable. I'm happy that I get to find all new weapo a and have stuff to work towards. I wonder what the next vision will be :P

Stay. Just because I can't use Fatebringer anymore doesn't mean the game won't be fun. Exotics will probably transfer to year 2. I will say that if TTK adds more weapons with useless perks (Dreg/Shank burn) then I'll probably leave lol That shows that Bungie doesn't even play their game.

I though they weren't going to allow us to upgrade so deleted most of my 300 weapons...it would be good to know for sure if they are not so I can just delete what I have when I need to...

Did all that replacing of gears in WoW for many years....it is so boring to use same gear for years and look the same... New weapons and armor makes it much more interesting and fun to get them all... ...for me anyways

7 RepliesThey should only allow Raid Legendarys and all Exotics to upgrade to TTK status. Anything that doesn't fit that gets left behind for new Legendarys.
