If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.
Edit 2: We are trending! :D
Edit 3: We Broke 1,000! This is my biggest post yet! Thank you all for your input!

I would still use my fatebringer I used it in the dark below when it only did 300 damage
-
It will be right in line with Bungie's policy if undervaluing their Year One players. It's ALL about the money not about the players as Bungie like to pretend...
-
Edited by Parpmeister: 7/24/2015 11:27:59 PMI'd like a total reset on all non exotic weapons. What if each old weapon you had turned into a token you could hand in for rep/glim/shitload of mats? (Like commendations did for rep) Iconic legendaries could be swapped for an emblem. You like Fatebringer that much then wear the -blam!-er!
-
Only reason why I think year 1 weapons are staying is because of the black hammer nerf , but irdk I wouldn't be surprised if all our legendary gear and weapons we have now we're to become lost in a void when taken king releases
-
Bungie would be INCREDIBLY dumb if they did that without a reason. I believe they might do that, but only if they make new better guns. I mean, they obviously don't want Fatebringer to be the best gun forever. Bungie is not incredibly dumb.
Only a little bit dumb hehe.
They have their reasons.
-
Stay. What's the point in getting excited over new stuff if old stuff remains the best? HoW had this problem.
-
Legendaries I'm fine with leaving behind. Exotics? Not so much. I can't see Bungie adding 20+ new and unique exotic weapons to replace the old ones.
-
They won't. 365 is the max year one guns can go.
-
Edited by Sanctus Michael: 7/24/2015 8:10:38 PMWell, I don't believe they'll be useless. That's like using a 331 weapon now vs a 365. And 331 is standard now without an exotic shard or etheric, which is pretty much 99% of my legendaries and I'm still competitive in pvp and still get the job done in pve, so it ain't that big of a deal. Today, xur had P&T. How many of us actually needed this, who hadn't had it or had it before? My point? If this happens at least each weapon drop and xur will have more meaning, at least for a while. Idk, tbh I could care less if they are ascended, I'm 99% certain legendaries won't be and I'm mentally prepared for news stating the yr1 exotics won't be either. I don't care, I'll adapt and overcome.
-
I'm 100% fine with leaving behind my old legendary weapons, but I'd prefer to keep my exotics. I could see Bungie making all year 1 weapons obsolete but I could also see them only allowing you to bring exotics with you.
-
There will be guns just like them with different names and skins. Just gotta get your grind on.
-
I think that they will make legendaries unupgradable (thank god). I haven't been excited about one legendary drop in House of Wolves and I don't think that I will be until my fatebringer and other legendaries that r powerful aren't anymore. Exotics on the other hand. Those r pretty much guaranteed to follow us threw all 10 years of destiny.
-
As long as they don't just redrop Jellyhorn and the like with new damage numbers. If it is all new exotics I'm down for change.
-
I'll stay, but I probably won't spend as much time with Destiny as I used to. Not so much because of the old stuff becoming obsolete, but mainly because of all the great games coming out in a few months.
-
Edited by Cmoney: 7/24/2015 7:59:55 PMLeaving old guns behind would render the 2 previous raids useless. Think about it.
-
Would be ok with legendaries. Maybe even exotics. Wait until Nerfaggedon. Everything will probably suck after that.
-
I would definitely stay, the game needs to evolve and I agree completely with all year 1 weapons being axed with the times. You need to learn to leave behind your old weapons and gear at some point guardians.
-
If Bungie does decide to make our old stuff obsolete, very least they could do is make the new stuff just as desirable.
-
I'd not have an issue with it. As long as the new guns are more powerful than what they want me to give up.
-
I play this game to have fun. Which includes getting weapons and upgrading them with friends. Who gives a crap if they get left behind, any shared world rpg has weapons that become obsolete with expansions
-
Edited by Player 2: 7/24/2015 7:58:25 PMI'd severely cut back on playing destiny and replace it with Tom Clancy's the division
-
If only legendaries, then sure. If exotics as well, then that's pretty stupid.
-
If anything the exotics will be up-gradable. Doubt legendaries will be, but who gives a shit.
-
It will probably be upgradeable eventually. Much like they did with year one. It will eventually weed out the older weps and armors.
-
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.
Even if legendaries are phased out, there's no way in hell exotics will be. At least not until Destiny 2, and even then I'm skeptical.

Gotta move on
