If Year 1 Guns Become Non-Upgradable
If Bungie and Activi$ion announce that year one legendaries and exotics will not have a upgrade path, will you continue to play destiny?
Edit 1: For those who would stay... Imagine having to completely replace your exotic armory. Every exotic would be useless except for PvP.

I expect exotics will be upgradable. No reason not too. Ledgendaries however will be left behind. Not only will they not move forward but the changes in the 2.0 update to weapons seem to neuter them enough that most of the perks that will make some of the weapons (I'm looking at you Vault guns!) much less effective and in comparison will show the newer weapons that are coming to be much more effective against the new challenges. Quite frankly it's needed. As much as I love my Fatebringer they should never had done the etheric light thing. It was a bad move and now that they are drawing a line in the sand it creates a mixed message. They really F'd that up and I feel here is where they make the final stance.

Your second edit, my feelings are, if only. I have every exotic in the game and I'm still using mostly exotics from vanilla Destiny. It would be great to wipe the slate clean and go after a whole new batch of exotics. It would be nice if they came out with new and interesting exotics but it would have to match the number of the vanilla Destiny exotics if not outnumber them.

If I had to guess, I would believe that exotics can be upgraded while everything else will not be able too. At least that's the vibe I'm getting from bungie

I have had TDYK ever since I could afford to buy it from the vanguard. It was my first legendary to be ascended. It's a fantastic gun. But as my play style evolves and as needs change it gets set in the vault for a bit. Maybe I get a speed boost from Mida. All guns are replaceable as the need arises. I'll be ok, a little sad that part of my guardians legend has faded, but ok.

The problem is that we won't know if the guns are trash or not until we buy. If they had an armory or gun range in the tower that allowed you "advanced access" to try out the new weapons, it would be a simple decision to walk away or not. Are they going to leave Fatebringer in the dust by not allowing it to be leveled or by making a newer, badass version of it for TTK? Too many unknowns right now to preorder. When we get closer to launch, I'm sure we will know more. For now though, I wait.

I'd love the option to turn all my old stuff in for rewards, like all raid weapons for some special gun or something like that. I'm sick of a full vault and old guns, and I can't bring myself to dismantle things I grinded so much for. Edit: they'd have to do something about crucible too to make them not useful there, or can't be taken in, so people still don't have a reason to keep them. People will hate this opinion, but I don't really care. Im sick of a full vault of useless guns, I'd prefer to collect them all but bungie isn't make that possible. I'm either going to need to deal with having no room for guns in TTK or get drunk and dismantle everything.

Exotics are probably the ones that will last the whole life cyle of destiny. They're the items with the most detail and character. Bungie will keep them as long as possible.

Imo exotics should always keep their value, but legendaries should lose some of theirs as the game progresses.

All new guns, all new armour means all new stuff to chase that isn't going to be just levels and shit guns no-one wants.
