Gjallorhorn is virtually useless when trying to kill Atheon unless you want to risk taking damage and dying during the fight - I know there are those who use it for Atheon Hard but I am not one of them.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for Public Events on the Moon - due to small blast radius.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for some POE encounters due to the way rockets proximity explode due to being killed by the architects rather than proximity to enemies. I know this is a game defect but still it sux to die for this reason.
Gjallorhorn works best for Nightfalls and Strikes but not for POE or PVP - I know some love to use their Gjallorhorn for PVP but let's face it there are better choices for PVP simply due to blast radius alone.
I have no issues with the upcoming Gjallorhorn nerf because Gjallorhorn fires and reloads faster than every other rocker launcher. I am ok with a reduction in Wolf Pack damage so long as Gjallorhorn remains an exotic but let's face it there are many better choices for some engagements than the current Gjallorhorn. I am not even sure the Gjallorhorn should even be called an exotic weapon now simply because it has such a small blast radius. There was a time when the Gjallorhorn was a true exotic but only because there were no other launchers with the same fire and reload rates but this is not the case any longer.
I think Bungie should rework the Gjallorhorn to make it back into an exotic by making the following changes:
1. Fire 2 Gjallorhorn rockets at the same time with reduced Wolf Pack damage based on pre-nerf damage values.
2. Reduce the fire and reload rates by 50%.
These changes would increase the damage output and elevate the Gjallorhorn back into exotic status without making it too OP but let's face it an exotic weapon has to be OP in order to be exotic otherwise it's just taking up space in our vaults.
