Just the other day, my and my fiance were playing some Vanguard Dragon. Recently, she has noticed that occasionally when she kills something, her enemy will burn green like it was hit with the thorn. Sometimes, she says they just get hit and the DoT procs off it until it dies. While this is more of a secret benefit than a bane, she's also noticed that her character will burn green in the Dragon Strikes like it was shot by Thorn, but again, no Thorn was used or equipped. This is also not because of the marking ability of that one pulse rifle, as we both don't have that weapon.
I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or if I'm not aware of an ability/perk that may be causing this.
Update: After some research and help from those below, I figured out that it is a "Hidden Perk" of Kepri's Sting. The perk, A Touch of Venom, adds a poison DoT to melee attacks when invisible. This effect happens no matter where you hit the enemy. It also works in the Crucible. This effect isn't described in the official perk, but it seems to be intentional.
Update 2: On Destiny Wikia, it is also added, that this hidden perk can also apply to the Arcblade of a Blandancer's Super and also adds the DoT to a Gunslinger's Golden Gun. See more here: http://www.destinygamewiki.com/wiki/Khepri's_Sting
