Hey all,
I'm beginning a grind for this f'in gun that I've seen people run 400+ strikes to get. My question before I even start, what is its true ranking next to a messenger? I have a messenger that I do like, but I feel like with the right perks hopscotch is better. Any confirmation/denials??!
Edit: a note to all who have replied, i thank all of you providing me with useful feedback it's good to know that this gun can kick ass but if I give up I have a messenger (with void! Yay) fallback lol

-
1 ReplySpare Change.25 has the same capabilities and is easier to get. I get two or three from playing an hour of crucible lol
-
1 ReplyHopscotch two shots.

i believe you are going to hear different opinions.. the only true way you're going to decide is to use them both.. if youre worry about the grind for hopscotch, you got any of your good buddies willing to share play with one you can run a few matches with? thankfully the grind wasnt bad for me.. ran a couple poe28 then switched to vanguard dragon strikes. on my third strike, i got it.. rerolled it for third eye, headseeker, and small bore..

6 RepliesEdited by SepticGiraffe: 7/20/2015 12:31:40 AMLet's see: Hopscotch pilgrim 1) Run 100 strikes (give or take 100+) to finally get hopscotch. 2) reroll hopscotch 1000 times trying to get perfect roll 3) grind first Mars mission for glimmer 4) use said glimmer to buy 100 guns from brother Vance 5) dismantle guns for weapon parts 6) grind Mars again for glimmer, again 7) go back to weapon smith to reroll, again 8) finally get perfect roll on hopscotch (approx. time for this ~ days/weeks/never) The messenger 1) get 7 wins in trials during the appropriate week, or from package, or from lighthouse (approx. time for this ~ 1 hour) Conclusion: Lel, amount of grind for hopscotch is not worth the benefit over the messenger, especially since you're probably going for the same friggin perks. - Rebuttal from hopscotch sweaties - "but my stability is maxed!!!!" Lol. You got the hopscotch, got the perfect roll, and then maxed it out. It only took a couple weeks of grinding but, you finally did it. Congrats. Now you'll get bored with it and switch back to thorn in less than a day.

The oversoul edict is much easier to get and does the same thing. Pilgram has been artificially hyped. It is just a typical legendary pulse rifle
-
Just get a messenger
-
Is this gun better than super pox VLO Based in stats
-
1 ReplyJust got one. Feeding frenzy, hand-laid stock, hidden hand was what dropped for me I think I'm going to keep that setup. Thoughts?
-
2 RepliesPersonally with my hopscotch that has hidden hand and feeding frenzy i enjoy it a lot more than the messenger.

IMO messenger is better because it sits perfectly between spare change and hop scotch. It has very high stability barely below hop scotch not enough to make a big difference IMO but it also has high range. Being a mid rate fire pulse rifle it needs to be able to have high range. If u still want hop scotch I would go with smallbore it gives range and stability but u lose a few rounds. As for perks the messenger already has amazing pvp perks the third eye lets u keep ads and radar so u can look down a sight line early without risk to a flank. That extra second of already having ur sights lined up can get u those kills. Head seeker considered a waste by some because it requires that body shot seem to not realize at longer distances it's nearly impossible to land all three head shots in the burst. This perk makes up some lost damage at those longer distances.

My hopscotch has outlaw and reactive reload with braced frame litterly no recoil. I think this is the best roll
-
Lol I got it today from POE. Don't know how u can do much better than messanger
-
Just maxed mine and took it for a spin, when my reactive reload was active it was hitting 51 to the head! Without the perk active it's like 38 I think on headshots, basically the guns a monster.. If you can aim.
-
5 RepliesIt may not be worth it considering the upcoming weapon "balancing"
-
I watched a guy get it from POE 28
-
I personally think hopscotch is the best.
-
3 RepliesGood luck. 200+ & I just saw the gun drop for another player last night.
-
I got massacred by a guy using it yesterday, makes me want one.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Tonyysv: 7/20/2015 12:47:30 AMIt is definitely worth it. So many two burst kills, it's crazy. Oh and I also prefer it over the messanger.

2 RepliesEdited by Cake-47: 7/20/2015 12:26:50 AMYou cant reroll it, you might get it when TTK launches, and then better stuff will be out. Edit: i thought it was an old weapon -.-
-
Don't have Messenger, but I can say it's more powerful than Red Death, with the added benefit of less recoil.
-
If I manage someday to get an arc/solar/void messenger I will be very happy. I LOVE hopscotch for PVE and PVP so if I could get a similar pulse with a burn I would be in heaven

8 RepliesEdited by Proppur: 7/20/2015 12:26:51 AMWhat about Spare Change.25? (Compared to Hopscotch)? They have the same stats, but Spare Change has a bigger mag size. I deleted my Pilgrim and kept Spare Change. Still haven't used either of them before, but is there any real difference? Did i make a mistake getting rid of the Pilgrim and keeping Spare Change instead? They seemed the exact same stat wise, so i went with what i thought would be best. Anyone with experience with both??
-
Hopscotch pilgrim has better stats than the messenger if you get the right roll
-
It is indeed better than a messenger when you roll it correctly. With Braced Frame or Hand Laid Stock it has perfect stability. I have 1 that I rolled with Feeding Frenzy and Reactive Reload. With RR active it's a 2 burst body shot kill, feeding frenzy lets you reload near instantly to keep the party rolling.
