Was the black hammer nerf necessary?

Don't hate me but I understand why they decided to nerf the sniper. This sniper has a unique perk, and has the highest time to kill on bosses, over ice breaker! An exotic weapon! How can a legendary sniper out gun a similar exotic sniper? In my eyes it shouldn't at all. Do I think they went about this the right way? Not totally, they should have made White Nail take only one bullet from the surplus and have the other two rounds appear. This still limits the ammo, but can still give you a lot of shots. On the other hand, I don't believe they should have nerfed ice breaker at all, it wasn't needed. But, this is just my opinion.

It wasn't necessary but I understand why they did it. It's -blam!-ed up because with Black Hammer and Icebreaker Bungie is basically saying we can't play how we want to. They want to make us jump in the fight when sometime the best strategy is to stay back. Not sure how I feel about this yet.

It's just a way to reign in the creatively designed weapons, so we don't expect anything better.

It's simple really. Let's just take a look at facts here. Fatebringer, hammer, Gjallarhorn. That is the most common pve load out. By far. Since fatebringer is only used on trash, it doesn't get nerfed, as it doesn't wreak havoc on boss mechanics by outputting too much dps.

No, BH is a niche weapon, its not that great for anything other than a few boss fights.

6 RepliesNah or the icebreaker...never have I once seen a hammer or breaker complaint in the forums for being overpowered. They're just good guns! Not every gun should be equal in power, that wouldn't be fun. You have to EARN the good guns and should be able to enjoy them. Gally is a little understandable because it rendered the other heavies useless in comparison...it was truly overpowered.

1 ReplyThey should just take off white nail because the nerf makes it irrelevant and defeats the purpose. If you only have say 8 bullets left in the mag that's all you'll be able to use! What a joke just because of whiners that are to lazy to grind Crotas End. Players that put in time should be rewarded not equal to people who don't play much!

I would much rather have seen it moved into an exotic weapon only obtainable from crota similar to crux and vex because this way we could keep the perk and it would compete for exotic slot when fighting bosses with ghally, the need was highly unnecessary and not very well thought out

15 RepliesBottomless clip against bosses. Infinite ammo on a high damage/low risk weapon is already incredible. But bottomless clip means you can do it way faster than any other sniper without ever stopping. And it's only a legendary. I mean white nail (pre nerf) was ducking incredible. Now compare it to other crota weapons. White nail (post nerf is a tragedy) but a necessary tragedy imho.
