Grifball is a fun game. I was wondering if it would be possible to play in real life!
Just think, trying to get a ball as people around you hit with hammers that make you fly (possibly playing on some trampoline-type surface to get that effect) and sword fights!
I am being serious, and no, I am not stupid, I understand the complications. Perhaps you could just forgo any time of penalty acting as a respawn time and just keep at it.
I do not know what to use for a hammer or a sword, they could just be created for the game themselves.
Now about the court. I was thinking to get that flying effect, the game could be played on a bouncy surface. I am not sure exactly what it is called, but perhaps something similar to a trampoline. The hammers could be swung to bounce your enemy, and your friends, up and away.
So what do you guys think? Can we gamers get this accomplished?
I know what I am proposing will require some real funding and space, but the thought to get it started is all that is needed!

Ok, I'm going to consolidate my last post into something more easily readable:
The Real-Life Griffball Rulebook:
Teams:
Teams consist of four players, along with two substitute players on the sideline. A licensed team coach is required for official play as well.
Substitute players may only enter the game between rounds, or in the case of an injury on the team during play.
Equipment:
The Griffball is a white, soft rubber, sphere, much like a variant of a large golfball.
Each team member is outfitted with:
One Helmet
One Chestguard
Two Upper-Arm/Shoulderpads
Two Vambraces
Two Gloves
One pair of padded breeches.
Two traction boots.
The team members are also each given one 'Giant Q-Tip'.
Team-Jerseys are optional.
The Field:
Griffball may only be played upon a standard sized trampoline surface, with appropriate plexiglass sidelines and goal apparati.
Scoring:
The team scores by placing the Griffball into the other teams scoring circle. The ball must be placed, not thrown (see fouls.)
After one team scores, the players and Griffball are reset to their starting positions.
The Griffball is unable to be passed, and is dropped at the place of the holder's 'death' (see Players)
Players:
Each player is granted an unlimited number of 'lives' per game.
A player is considered 'dead' after they have been hit by an opposing teams weapon. (Or in the case of the Griffball holder, two hits).
In the case that a player is ruled 'dead' they must remove themselves from the field of play, and return to their team starting area, after being signaled by the 'Guardian' or respawn referee, they may return to the play area.
Players are returned to 'life' after they return to their side, or after 4 seconds, whichever takes longer.
Upon taking possession of the Grifball, players must sling their weapons over their back, and the Grifball may be used in place of a weapon.
Fouls:
A player will be given an extra 10 seconds on their 'respawn' time for any of the following:
Throwing the Griffball
Kicking the Griffball
Throwing their Weapon.
Removing 'armor' on the field of play.
Leg Sweeping
Tripping
Face-Masking
Holding
A player will be temporarily removed from the field of play for two minutes for any of the following:
Goal-Tending
Unsportsman-like Conduct
Leaving the field of play with the Grifball
Stripping the Ball
Failing to leave the field of play after being ruled 'dead'

Posted by: x Tigersfan x We just need someone who can make a giant trampoline court....
Has it ever been done before, at least to a degree? What if, and this is a hypothetical, we played this with advanced equipment? Like if you get hit in a certain spot, your armor freezes up for like 5 seconds and you fall down? I know it seems way out there, but if we cannot accomplish this now than it could be done in the future!

If I forgot anything, let me know.
Awesome ideas, you have been the most helpful yet! Hmmmm... what if tripping, kicking, all that fighting stuff was actually part of the game? Wearing armor would prevent most injuries involving those, right? And for the "respawn," I was originally thinking to just forgo that part and have it a continuous fight. But if something life that must be in, then there would have to be a precedent to be deemed "out." Like hitting a certain spot on the armor, getting hit a number of times, etc etc...
If there was no 'killing' or 'respawn' the Griffball carrier could, in theory, proceed unhindered to the goal, thats why I added it.
I suppose... unless you are trying to hit it out of his hands, in which case it would actually be a pretty rough game.
Posted by: CTrain1007 i mean it would be cool but its kinda like american football but i mean it is much different in a few ways
You mean like not being able to throw the ball, and not starting new plays every few yards? AKA the defining part of Football.

rugby, and it's HC football, almost no pads
Posted by: XxFLAWxLESSxX 1. You are not killing.
Then it isn't Grifball anymore, Grif has to die when he scores.
