That's not how it works because the other heavy weapons will actually be viable. That strain of logic is weird.

  • They still don't have Wolfpack round, because yeah, Mathias aren't a really being removed.

  • Mistaken logic. They weakened strong weapons to the level of weaker ones. Now all your category weapons are equally ineffective and you have no strong standout weapon. That is what was done and that is the reason most complain. The enemies weapons and armor was unaffected, our priority weapons were muted. That is what was done. They chose to weaken priority weapons instead of raising weaker weapons to the higher standard, net result, all are now less effective.

You aren't supposed to be able to kill a boss in under a minute. You aren't supposed to be able to kill another player with a primary weapon in less than one second. I managed just fine doing 35 PoE with a Vision of Confluence, Plan C, and Hunger of Crota. When you have several weapons that define the end all for some people in their respective choices of combat there is an issue. Icebreaker and Blackhammer I agree with though.

  • Your points are also well taken and appreciated. My point is: buffing weaker weapons to the level of the strong would preserve 'balance' and keep PVE unchanged. Nerfing strong weapons is a fix for a problem that did not exist. You still cannot headshot a Captain, one shot the Walker or any final boss. They remain strong, but now you are back to long encounter times and bullet sponges for your bullets are now all weaker. In PVP, the fix was always; fix the weaker guns! Make them more attractive. The solution is now; weaken the strong so the weak is now ALL. That is not balance, it is a cheap cop out...

The point was never being able to one shot a captain or a boss. The point was certain weapons did too well in their niche groups, making other guns obsolete. I can almost guarantee the kill times for weaker enemies will be negligible with these new changes. I was an avid auto rifle user when they were viable, after the nerf using them in PvE or even PvP was a good way to lose. It was either switch to something better or be left behind. Like I said, no weapon should be an end all for PvE. I feel if bosses take an extra minute to kill, so be it. PvP is a whole other issue. What happens when you put the weaker weapons on par with the already powerful guns? You have an incredible fast kill time meta that is more reliant on twitch reactions that skill. Even then nobody can react to being killed in under a second.

  • Data is correct. I can appreciate data supported arguments; a rarity here. There will never be an ideal PVP solution for they chose to provide >40 guns! They now expect they will perform similarly. When their data demonstrated stratification and selectivity, changes came to enforce uniformity. That directly violated their basic tenant: play it your way! That tenant should be rephrased: play if your way as long as we approve and you use the weapons which we think you should and in the way we like! So, what to do now? Learn to use weapons they previously butchered? Unwrap Suros, clean the grease off, reapply lube and don the weapon? Vanquisher VIII to the rescue. Dragons Breath here we go. Hard Light now shoots something hard? Necrochasm revived from Necro's Chasm and restored to 'real gun' status? Thorn, died from its own thorns? GHorn, now gone the way of the Rhinoceros? Shard the exotic collection for their only difference now is being colored Yellow? What must one do? I have already started looking elsewhere at other ways to spend my $$. This is not the game I bought, fell in love with, burned countless all nighters on RAIDS to get unique and powerful weapons to now find I can buy them from the Vanguard. I am really disappointed in the way, not the fact, the 'balancing' was done in this specific manner. In the end my voice is meaningless. No one really cares what I think and even less about my opinion, especially here. I write about it for I feel, after the thousands of hours I invested, I have earned a voice here. Unfortunately, everyone cannot all be pleased by any single action and I believe there was much debate at Bungie before these specific changes were approved. I hope their actions were correct. In the past that has not been true...
