This no mic argument is seriously getting -blam!-ing old.
In any game I've played EVER with other players, the goal is ALWAYS to see the end of the encounter. If I'm the only one with a mic, I will direct the silent players to what they need to do, granted if we've failed already. The silent players may be mute, but I assure everyone whom opposes me in this, literally every player I've come across is still able to hear me.
Now if you're the type to table-flip after one failed encounter, -blam!- off and get out of my game. You weren't wanted in the first place. If you're not though, chances are you will listen to instructions, at the very least hobble through the content with me, and we all reap the fruits of completing the mission. I'm just as happy to get something done in short or long order, the point is completion.
LFG sites have provided me with a friend list of strangers that I've raided with maybe once each. Some are legitimately cool and memorable. As I type I can only really think of one, though. Most of the rest are vitriolic, immature, incompetent, prideful, elitist or any combination of those.
My friend list since playing Destiny has grown by 200+, all of which were single-serving friends to complete an objective I needed these strangers for. Many of these players were not able to complete what we joined up for in the first place, due to poor time management on their part (Sorry guys I gotta go to work... Seriously? Whyd you start a raid 30 minutes before going to work with strangers you have no idea the skill level of?) Or a massive lack of skill/comprehension of the encounter and in many experiences just throwing themselves at the encounter like cannon fodder.
Would this happen as well in matchmaking? Probably. However once things go south you can just queue up again and move on with your life, as opposed to trying to make shit work with these morons you've been placed with for two or more hours, just burning through your heavy synths and hoping this time, THIS TIME, the dudes who've been wiping on Atheon for an hour will finally.. get it. Anyone who's been in this situation knows it to be wishful thinking.
It just doesn't make logical sense to me.

I don't understand your point. Your all over the place. First you talk about no nice, then your friends list, then how long it takes to complete an objective, and then about people starting a raid 30 min. Before work? Neither raid should take longer than 30-45 minutes anyways. If it takes longer then it's because of noobs and in that case; just putting myself I their shoes; since how dropped the number of ppl on the off sites and forums has decreased drastically, especially since destiny lost massive amounts of people in the TDB to HoW transition. So that being said I could see how someone that's trying to get all their raids and etc done before reset might start a raid just to get as far as possible and cp wherever they are, due to the length of time it takes to get a raid group together you said you have 200+ friends from doing raids.... Then why are you playing with noobs??? Your post makes no sense and is all over the map.

5 RepliesEhhhh. I want to agree just so OPMM gets added, but i wouldnt use it. Simply for the fact that i like talking to people, otherwise i might as well be playing with A.I. against A.I.

Open offer: if you are on XB1, feel free to add me. I run with a pretty good group of international players, and we can blast through VoG and CE hard modes in about an hour.

3 RepliesYou know how annoying it is to try and guess when to take the essence from a player in the skolas fight, because they won't turn their damn mic on? Or you're playing trials of Osiris and he/she sees enemies, maybe needs help, or has any other information they want to say, but don't have a mic, or refuse to turn theirs on. To me it's simply annoying when players choose not to communicate, I can understand being quiet and shy, but the game is much more enjoyable when you have people to talk you while playing.

3 RepliesEdited by Noctroglyph: 7/13/2015 9:40:37 PMI really don't see the problem here. Every single console supported by this game comes with a chat headset. Use it. Make friends. Do Raids. Run PoE. Kill the undeserving in ToO. No excuses. Even if you broke yours you can buy an Android compatible headset at Marshalls for $7.99 or less. That's where I got the earbuds I'm using right now.

4 RepliesFound this on the Lost Sols thread. Your statements about VoG are so spot on. I ran VoG on hard Saturday night and it took, what felt like, 4 hours to complete. The damn raising of the spire at the very beginning took at least 30 minutes. We'd slog through one area just to have a guy leave, find another guy on LFG, slog through the confluxes for an hour, two guys leave, find more guys on LFG, spend an hour trying to kill the templar...it just went on like this for ever. There was one guy, God bless him, who was a -blam!-ing saint. He was trying to coordinate the newer guys and instruct them what to do and no matter how much those new guys yelled at him, he never lost his cool and he never raised his voice. Finally, we beat Atheon. But it was hit and miss there for a while as guys came and went and the fireteam leader kept heading back to LFG.

9 RepliesHow do people not have mics, it comes with the console, lol. And you can pretty much use any mic you have laying around from a cellphone

Edited by The Dude: 7/13/2015 7:37:56 PMUse kinect and they will never bug you about your mic again! Ive done nearly every activity with and without a mic. The mic makes little difference, its the players that make or break it. Besides, many people have very poor mic etiquette. IE screaming, foul language, sexual chatter. I think people forget that children play this game... PS i play better with music anyways.

Did 2 poe runs this morning with two guys that had no Mic. Surprisingly no issues. They listened on quadron and wasn't much of an issue. On the other hand sometimes you get that one guy that dies in no mans land and he just gotta go.

3 RepliesSure there are those like you described and there are those that won't enable chat so no they won't hear you! I've run players thru CE NM and some CP's on HM to get them gear and weapons. Yes some of those players could not hear us and did not acknowledge directions that were given. I still support OMM but remember if the other 80% jumps in then potentially most of the fireteam members will probably new to end game events and some possibly with no form of communication.
