Just grinded Roc strikes all night... Went to the reef to open engrams, and my blue special turns into a HoW Judgment VI... :/

I suggest you don't use the reef, it may affect it. Not sure but it is a HoW area

Works with weapons too I did a TDB daily mission last week and got a blue heavy engram when I turned it in it turned into valedictorian it's on my hunter
