It's obvious what hand cannons are over-powered, but that doesn't mean they all are. The purple hand cannons are fine. Please don't make the same mistake you did with auto rifles and nerf them all into obscurity when Suros was the main offender.
I'd hate for hand cannons to become useless in PvE just because Thorn and TLW (not extremely great exotics for PvE anyway) are ruining the meta in the crucible.
Suros did it and now all auto rifles are unusable in PvE. Don't make the same mistake with hand cannons!

I agree. The Last Word and Thorn are the only ones that need a nerf.

If they nerf damage on HC's, they can really only nerf them to a certain point. Luck in the Chamber and Hawkmoon's Holding Aces make those guns 2 shot kills. If they nerf damage, they could only nerf it to the point that it doesn't impede that lucky shot when those perks proc. If max armor in crucible is a Titan at full armor for 203, and Hawkmoon's damage is 95+126=221 there is only an 18 point window. Add that the Ram with the highest armor stats is rumored to max at 225 and Hawkmoon's triple proc is 226, I don't think you'll see an across the board nerf on HC damage, as it would nullify that exotic perk rendering it useless and legitimately push the Ram to possible OP status. The AR nerf neutered AR'S but didn't mess with any of the exotic perks of those guns. You'll most likely see a tweek to how Thorn performs, i.e., reduced range/aim assist/DoT.

I agree, don't nerf classes, tweak the main problems. :( my poor hard light. So many great memories before you died.

1 ReplyWorst part is when they "fix" this perceived Thorn problem, a PvP issue, they'll nerf hand cannons as a whole into comple and utter PvE uselessness.
-
Bump + chech out my post guys it's about inviting people to fireteam via app in the recruitment section
-
-
All they need to do is reduce the DoT from the perk to like 5x4 in PvP. Then it won't have any effect on other handcannons in pve
-
7 RepliesThey should leave this shit alone. Everyone has a hand cannon. You just need to become as good as your opponent. I get killed over and over again by Thorn and probably from mediocre players at that. So what? They did the bounty and deserve to have a great op gun to use whether in Crucible or not. I use Hawkmoon or TLW and can counter them sometimes and sometimes I just get the shit shot out of me. I don't complain overly long lol. I just pick up my weapon and try for revenge. Hand cannons are something that sets Destiny apart from other FPS games. In Planetside 2 for example the auto rules or the sniper depending on how you like to play it. In Destiny - HCs rule as they should. You don't like it leave the fracking game.
-
Bungie doesn't work that way. They nerf the whole class set because they don't have any clue as to what the hell they're doing.
-
No, nerf the whole thing so that people who like hand cannons have to abandon the weapon type completely the same way auto rifles and fusion rifles were utterly destroyed. Kappppaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... -blam!-ers.
-
Keep PVE and PVP seperate.
-
I agree

1 ReplyUmm, ill will is a 2 hit headshot in pvp, the same as thorn, and we don't cry about that purple, that purple has the same power as an exotic, and exotics are suppose to be more powerful
-
1 ReplyEdited by LordSnoz007: 7/11/2015 3:57:10 PMJust nerf for pvp. Im soooo sick of them -blam!-ing up pve, because it has problems in pvp. I love hand cannons in pve. So dont just start swinging the nerf bat. That goes for legendarys as well as exotics.
-
1 ReplyDon't nerf my 3 exotic beauties! I worked my ass off to get them to 365 and id like to keep them relevant and not have them end up like my suros regime :(
-
How about just don't fix what isn't broken and fix the connections in trials?
-
3 RepliesThorn really only needs to have its range dropped drastically. The Last Word just needs the ADS glitch fixed and it'd be fine. Otherwise buff autos and fusions to where they compete and it would be in a lot better shape since more weapons would be viable. Soon people will be on here whining about how pulse rifles need needed because they're to over powered just buff other stuff, deal with thorns range issue and the ADS glitch on TLW.
-
Agreed

4 RepliesI have been meaning to go back and reread Bungies' comments regarding weapon balancing. I think range is an issue with some hand cannons. In addition, I think that mean time to kill should be adjusted until all weapons in the same class are about the same. Any weapon in the hands of a good pvp player will make it appear op. Using the mean guarantees that half are above and half are below. It appears that Bungie is using minimum time to kill, but I need to go back and verify that.

1 ReplyAs long as it is not like the auto rifle nerf i will be ok with it.suros regime needed a nerf not the rest of them.same goes to hand cannons.leave the legendarys alone.decrease the exotics.not the perks on them as such.the range, posion time for thorn which is the perk but by damage output and how long it lasts for etc.
-
NERF! there is no way a hand is suppose to beat out a scout rifle at long distance
-
Edited by Cyber: 7/11/2015 2:52:39 PMBump. Your right.
-
Bump. Its only about the exotics. The other handcannons are fine.
-
11 RepliesEdited by Th_AlphaAndOmega: 7/11/2015 12:30:55 AMi disagree, they are exotic. if you take away any of the perks or modify them they are not exotic and wont be used. Think about the No land beyond and how its basically worthless. If it had useful perks it would be great as a chotty sniper combo. I dont want that with either of these guns. so my problem lies with the balance of scout rifles to hand cannons. Cannons should not compete in range or rate of fire..
-
that's the problem with this game. They treat all guns at once. But what they really need to do is address each gun individually. Even exotics. Agree 100%

Please check out this weapon balancing article and give feedback. It's a good read, thanks. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/117004290/0/0
