Greetings fellow Guardians,
Many of us are familiar with each other on these forums. We read each other's posts, we debate what we love and would change about this game, some of us add each other as friends in game and some of us mute each other. We come from all walks of life and we all bring our own ideas and ideals as to what we think this game and these forums should be. The great thing about these forums is that, no matter how different or alike we may be, we are all here because we are fans of this game.
The reason I am posting this today is because tomorrow is Bungie Day and a number of us have decided we are not going to log on as a show of dissatisfaction with the way Bungie are handling this game. For all that is amazing about Destiny from the amazing gameplay to the beautiful art and music, there is no excusing
-Endless lag in The Crucible
-An entire zoo of constant error codes
-Broken raids
-No new exotic bounties since release
-Endless economy resets
-No private matches
-Very little character customization
-"Worlds" that exist of giant loops of invisible corridors that are all essentially the same with nothing to explore or discover
-No in-game matchmaking or LFG for most endgame content
-Inadequate vault space
-Still no way to delete consumables to clear vault space
-No Story
-Pointless factions
-"Expansion" missions that mostly re-use existing maps
-"New" enemies that are reskinned old enemies
-"New" strikes that are old strikes with reskinned "new" enemies
-Gear becoming obsolete too quickly
-Lack of direction for weapon balancing in PvP and PvE
-Locking out players from existing game modes to force them to purchase new expansions
-Lack of any default proximity chat or easy ways to communicate on patrol or in The Tower (You have to go to someone's system profile to even message them. How is that not in game??)
-Ridiculous pricing for existing players vs new players for The Taken King. This is the end of year one and for those getting ready to come in new to year two, they are coming in to more of what we thought we were going to experience a year ago. They will also come in and week one be on par with us across the board if weapons don't ascend as is widely speculated.
-Selling emotes for $20 that existed in-game 2 years ago in trailers
-A refusal by Bungie to acknowledge any of these issues or to establish their own presence on these forums
Every day we are on these forums and every day we ask Bungie for answers and every day we are ignored. Weekly update after weekly update promises future answers and they never come either. No matter where you stand on the various issues, there is more than likely something on that list or even things not on it that you would like to see improved in this game. Every day I'm told by at least one person that we can't make a difference and to just give up or quit the game.
Maybe they're right. Maybe as one voice speaking for the community maybe we can't make a difference, but as a community speaking with one voice we just might. Everyday life gives us choices and we have to decide which path to take. Tomorrow is just one day out of 365, it's one day out of six that you can play this coming week, but it's also one day that is a chance to stand for something and to make your voice heard. You don't have to agree with all, some or even any of these issues to want this game to be as good as it can be and to want to be able to influence the future of your Guardian.
So I ask you my fellow Guardians to take a moment tomorrow to not focus on the present (or Bungie's presents), but the bigger picture and the future of this game. You've invested yourselves, your time, your money and your emotions into Destiny, it's time Bungie invest themselves in this community.
So I am signing off. I won't be a part of their day tomorrow. I won't log on for an emblem or any other gifts that show support of this company that operate more and more like Activision everyday and I won't visit their forums or app either. Whether or not any of you choose to do the same is up to you and whether or not we are heard, at least we'll know we tried and we stood for something more than ourselves; we stood for this game and we stood for each other.
See you all on the 8th. Happy you day tomorrow.

3 RepliesI held back all day from playing yesterday but then I figured I should get as much content as possible so I logged in on Destiny at 10 pm. I guess that year one emblem offer was only valid during the daytime, because I didn't get anything. I'm not really disappointed because I'm also not surprised either.
