It seems your argument is based on life having unexpected occurrences and responsibilities. That is fine, but it seems you are missing a one thing.
*This game rewards commitment*
In every form, this is true. The more you play, the better you get, the more stuff you get, and the more you can do.
It is frustrating from your position I'm sure to feel that you cannot access some content, but that is not the case.
This game is not the "arcade style, pick up and play whenever, even playing field" that Bungie is known for.
Much of the "end game" content requires a coordinated effort on 3-6 players part. If you want to play, then put in more time and more effort. Again, this isn't a plug n' play game.
My advice, ask where your commitment lies. Is it to your family and 60-90 year life, or to a video game with a 10 year life?

This game does not reward commitment. All that effort put in is just so you can actually play. So that's our reward, the ability to play content we paid for? I used the third party sites and LFG and added well over 30 new "friends". You know how many still play? 1 person. It has nothing to do about making friends. It has everything to do with not constantly rotating my "friends" list and posting endless personal ads. Just so I can crank out a 15 min Nightfall. Don't drop the lazy thing either. That's a cop out. We are all being lazy by sitting on our asses playing games. I don't do different levels of lazy.

Never used the word lazy

No, effort put in is reflected in how you direct it, with the rewards "usually" proportional to the effort. Effort is certainly not proportional to playtime. So are you saying you are prohibited from playing ANY part of the game?

The more you play doesn't lead to more content though. The game doesn't reward commitment, it rewards (tries to anyways, unsuccessfully) having dedicated friends to the same game. Works for Pokémon Red/Blue. Doesn't work for 2+ hour content. The vast majority of developers integrated MM for their raid/dungeon experiences for this exact reason. It just makes sense. Or to be more precise, it doesn't make sense to not use it. It has only positive effects and its absence has only negative effects. Kinda like oxygen. Your analogy to commitment would be like a scuba diver in real life justifying that people should have to wear oxygen tanks if they want to be able to go outside their houses and experience the rest of the planet rather than incorporate oxygen into our atmosphere.

Why is making friends while you play matchmaking crucible or 28 POE out of the question. Lack of commitment maybe?

You just used analogies that vaguely fit the situation to prove your point. I believe it's a bit more complicated than that.
