Completely agree, except TOO.
My personal opinion is that the trials should be SET teams. Who you play first match with locks you with those players until end of trial session. This leads to team formation and strength over time.
MM with trials would be fine if this system were used. That does mean randoms who refuse to continue screw you...so build a team next time around. It allows noobs to experience TOO at least and, with luck, maybe even get a solid team that will become friends down the road. On the flip side, dedicated teams get the natural advantage that TOO is meant to showcase and reward.

The rest I totally agree on. MM for all strikes/raids at all difficulty levels would radically improve social interaction in Destiny.
