He forgot to mention that he probably doesn't have the GJ which is why he constantly brings up nerfing it. Like everyone else calling for nerfs.

  • Theres no reason for the GJ to be the "end-all, be-all holy grail weapon" for pve as he mentioned. Theres an actual pathetic reliance on it right now for end game content.

  • I feel like a nerf to the gj is unnecessary (not because I don't think it's not overpowered it totally is). I feel like the better solution would simply be to create some other weapons that motivated ppl to use something else. The problem is not that gj is overpowered it's that it's the only super overpowered boss killing weapon in the game. I would hate to see it nerfed not because I suck and can't use another gun because often times I do (I hate giving up an exotic slot for it) but rather because it's hella fun to use. I would rather see weapons introduced to the game that actually make me go do I even want to bring gj? I feel like that would be the best solution. Another bright spot wood be that then I'd have more guns to actually care about trying to collect.

I posted down further: ".... it's not that a weapon needs nerfing. It's very possible that other weapons need buffing. Could even be a refinement of stats and perks so it has a more specialized role. A lot of this can be dictated through trial and error..." A gentlemen said that you can use any exotic to kill bosses....well no shit. But the problem is that GJ makes killing bosses that much easier so it's overused. The same thing is happening with Thorn and TLW in pvp. I can kill someone with my Monte Carlo, but using Thorn or TLW makes the effort that much easier and faster so why not use them? I don't have GJ so I don't know what to fix, but there is a clear issue when LFG posts are constantly requiring a team with that weapon. Again, it may not even need nerfed but some refinement is necessary with heavy exotics because you want to allow a diverse approach to gameplay and not linear. That's the problem now. Too many linear end game builds. A further example: Diablo 3. Blizzard overhauled many abilities and gear just recently because there were too many single, end game builds. The overhaul changed it so there could be more diversity depending on team cohesion, enemies, and personal play style.

  • I can't think of any enemy or boss in the game I haven't killed with a regular, non tracking rocket launcher as well as my GJ.

  • It doesn't matter that you can kill any boss with any other weapon. The problem is that a vast majority use GJ because it's that much easier to kill any boss. It's identical to the problem in PvP. I can fight with a Monte Carlo and get kills. But it's MUCH easier to kill with a Thorn or Last Word. That is why these weapons are overused. And it's not that a weapon needs nerfing. It's very possible that other weapons need buffing. Could even be a refinement of stats and perks so it has a more specialized role. A lot of this can be dictated through trial and error. But Bungie moves too slow with patch updates to effectively create a balance between weapons and gear. It's either that, or they are planning a full overhaul of their weaponry--but I strongly doubt that. Even then, I have seen other companies move faster with balancing patches that overhauled a good chunk of skills and gear, Diablo 3 being one of those.

  • I see your point but venture to say people use the GJ because they have one. Why the hell would I use something else when I have a GJ unless I need an icebreaker or something? It's not a matter of dependence. It's a matter of using the best weapons you have. Nightfalls, raids, POE, Trials I only use my GJ if there's a burn for it or a modifier. I don't lean on it and can't play the game properly if I don't use it.

I didn't say they use the GJ just because they have one. They use it because it IS the best overall pve weapon for the Heavy slot. You're right, it does not suit every need, but it suits most compared to nearly every other heavy weapon. Why do you think the most requested weapon on LFG sites is the GJ? Because it's the most powerful weapon at the moment. Again, GJ may not need nerfed, but if it doesn't, then other weapons sure as hell need a buff in certain areas to compete. It comes down to creating diverse, specialized builds and not a "1 size fits all" build. I mentioned Diablo 3 earlier. It's a good example. Blizzard recently made a major change to a lot of abilities and gear because a majority of people had similar build sets for all occasions. Why? It followed the "1 size fits all." The new change is meant to allow more diversity in specialized builds with factors such as team cohesion, enemy counters, personal play style, etc. Bungie has enemy counters down to a point, but the rest could be improved--and personal play style is very reliant on just the best weapons instead of people who prefer close ranged, long ranged, or whatever. My Monte Carlo for example, I love it and enjoy close ranged tactics and punching shit. Unfortunately, the AR nerf made my MC absolutely worthless in all end game even with max Attack. It's just inefficient to have it equipped now. It's things like that that need balancing.
