Seriously. How do they work? I'm so confused. Is it magic?
Someone please help me.

There are little invisible midgets that want friends, so when two magnets come close to each other, the midgets lock hands in friendship

Edited by Allsour: 7/11/2015 8:21:49 AMAsk me another question. Start with black holes, or how lightning is formed. You know what atoms look like, right? Now imagine that all the elections got stuck on the bottoms of the atom. That makes the top mostly positive, and the bottom mostly negative. This is called a dipole. Now, let's say you have two of these "dipolar atoms" lined up side by side. The top is still positive, and the bottom is negative. This will be called north and south. Let's say you arranged it in a stack. Even though there's poles in the middle, the magnetic field "stacks", and aligns, increasing in strength. Take a magnetic element, such as Cobalt, and imagine there's trillions of atoms. This is called a ferromagnetic. It's a natural magnet. When another magnet is placed near, it "wants" to increase it's stack, so they attract if the dipoles are lined up. Now, if you had electrons facing each other, they will repel. (South and south.) If it is a metal that is capable, putting a magnet next to something like a paper clip with force the atoms to line up with the said magnet. Now, separate them, and the paper clip works like a magnet. But it only works for a short while, because it's weak, and motion makes the atoms move out of alignment. Also, imagine magnets working just like static electricity. If you're wondering why positives are attracted to negatives, that is unknown. If you need me to clarify, just reply, or PM me. My paragraph is confusing. The strength of a magnet is measured in Teslas, and the force of attraction between protons and electrons is measured in Coulombs. (If you're interested, investigate what a Positron is. They're fun. Keep clicking links, and you'll learn a lot.) Ask me another question. I asked Kent Hovind's granddaughter to ask him that very question. I haven't gotten a response ;(

Water, fire, air and dirt. -blam!-ing magnets, how do they work? And I don't wanna talk to no scientist, y'all be lyin n shiet
