Hello and welcome guardians, this is your friendly neighborhood AnonPig, although to a special few I'm your sadistic riddling AnonPig. The post is finally here, the clues you've been given that melted your brains and made you hate yourself brought you to the bones of the theory, now dig into the meat.
First let's talk about my delightful pun that no one understood, the bones, in Destiny we have the remnants of the monkeys paw advice giving dragons and what do we do? We strap them to our arms legs and head and think nothing of it. But look closely at the flavor text, the armour is speaking to us, but more so, it's influencing us.
Let's take a look at ghost fragment warlock, yes?
Why did I set her on the trail?
instantly it starts with regret.
And I looked at the piece of spine in my hand and wondered - why did I say that? What moved me to such pride?
Now do you see? The terrible influence the bones have on us? ...and others...
Now for the first question I asked those few who are hungrily eating up these words like a starved dog.
Ever wonder what Ahamkara horns look like? And what if I told you, you've already seen them?
No no, as they quickly thought I'm sure you do too, not in the Hive PoE; those are a different beast, I'm nearly sure of what too. But on the back of a rabid wolf.
Time for a history lesson on the Reef Wars, I suggest you follow that like there as read it entire it's quite fascinating, but I'll keep my points brief. For those who don’t know, Skolas was merely a Captain. Skolas the Rabid, but don’t let that make you think he was low ranked, he was close to the Wolf Kell: Virixas. There was competition though, Irxis, Wolf Baroness and Parixas the Howling. Mara Sov is resposible for Virixas’ death, by way of… well… destroying the asteroid, that he and the near millions of Wolves that were with him, were on.
Now, Wolves without a Kell, our three heroes rise up to take the reigns. Skolas was viscious and cunning, and seemingly with ease he won the Wolves as his. But he only wanted Kellship of Wolves, he wasn’t aspiring to be anything more, simply wanted to lead. Now, when we fight him this was after he came into contact with the Nine, he was given to them as a peace treaty of sorts. Prince Uldren sent “his” Crows into the Cauldrons of Rhea, which displeased the Nine, so Mara offered her newest prize.
They didn’t keep him however, they gave him a Ketch and let him free, but what if they gave him something else? What makes him more recognizable than anything else? Those horn shapes he wears on his back. What if the Nine gifted him these Ahamkara horns as well as the Ketch? He wears them, is influenced by the prideful egotistical nature that it brings, and no longer just wants Kellship of the Wolves, he wants Kellship of everything.
Now don’t curse Xur, don’t swear off the Nine as evil beings.or the Darkness, or that they are against us. You’ll see soon enough just what a big game they are playing, and outside of the Destiny Universe just how much Bungie has been tricking us, hiding a magnificent winding story by putting it right in front of our faces.
First let me explain the story so far. In vanilla we fight Atheon, and had the introduction of several characters, we learned a little bit of Toland, and heard whispers of Oryx. In The Dark Below we meet Eris who survived Crota’s Realm, and came back to warn us of Crota’s arrival. She told us the tale of how the son of Oryx was returning to finish what he started. And last we meet Petra, Variks, and get a little closer to the Queen, Mara Sov. All of these are connected, but they don’t seem to be do they? These were all building up for The Taken King.
Skolas was released by the Nine, purposely given Ahamkara horns to influence his direction in his newly given life, and why? So he could attempt to rally the rest of the Eliksni, and fail. That failure would drive him to the only other way to buff up his army, more Wolves, but how if the brunt of them were wiped from this world by those Harbingers? He had to go back in time.
This is when he went to Terminus, and this is why he was freed. Mara didn’t want him killed anymore, she wanted him alive, could she have known? Could her Techeuns have shown her a glimpse of something Skolas had to tell her? Whatever the reason, not killing him there was the only reason we stand a chance in the upcoming Expansion.
Once Skolas was captured, he was mad, the things he saw in these different timelines he traveled to to bring back more Wolves…. He saw Oryx. He foretold his arrival.
"He says..." Variks hisses under his breath. "He makes no sense, my Queen. He speaks of...Light-Snuffer. Dark-binder.”
Mara Sov learned of this, she prepared. She made contact with Osiris and with Eris, clearly word has gotten back to the City. Coming with The Taken King we will see new subclasses, which are being sought out because we needed to increase our strength to defeat Oryx.
That’s the master plan the Nine have been playing, and just how much farther does it go? They released Skolas, who threatened the Reef and our City just because they knew we would defeat him. Just because they knew he would foresee Oryx’s arrival. They are on our side, or rather we are simply their pawns, moving as they wish without even knowing it. Whoever the Nine are, whatever they want, will we ever find out or break free?
.
Thankyou all for reading! This is your friendly neighborhood AnonPig and i hope you all enjoyed this as much as i did when it came to me. I’d like to thank, and im sorry i forgot your name, whomever it was who asked me “What are the things on Skolas’ back?” i believe they also suggested the theory that they were Ahamkara bones, from there… my mind just went nuts. So if you are reading this, thank you.

It's my belief that the Nine released Skolas to force interaction between the city and the reef which saved us from the taken king
-
Im really curious to find out What the old bones in the hive poe are. Any hints?
-
Maybe Skolas was also released to strengthen ties between the Reef and the Tower? Give us a common enemy so we can work well together in the future?
-
Holy shit dude mind-blam!-. Great job and please, apply to work at bungie, id love to see this in game
-
Very good!
-
Skolas is the Trojan horse. All that power, he is the kell of kells. After we defeat oryx, the NINE will destroy the reef with Skolas inside of it.
-
The horns are from a dragon right?
-
If only the story was in the game
-
Why the -blam!- isn't he working at BUNGIE? Bungie hire this -blam!-ing guy
-
It all makes sense now, one second he was asking to be docked, the next he wanted to rule EVERYTHING. Good job. Another great theory.
-
OooOooOooo...
-
Holy -blam!- that is mind blowing
-
Is the archon priest a priest that serves the archons or is he both a priest and an archon
-
Now that's a wall of text worth reading! Nice job!
-
Now what Grimore exactly states that nine gifted him the Horns?

Edited by Jet909: 8/23/2015 8:41:29 PMIf he went to the past, why would he come back? What makes you think he time traveled? Maybe he just rounded up the remaining wolves-in-hiding. It was weird that he went to the moon and to Venus but where else could he go? I only ask because i do find the story interesting and i do want to know the lore.
-
This was my hypothesis as well - that the Nine release Skolas, Knowing that Mara would let us 'power up' to the extent, where we could, potentially, defeat Oryx. I believe Osiris has a huge part to play in this as well, as he is exiled from the tower for his methods (whatever they are). These methods are, likely, going to be what will lead us to greater power - power that we, in turn, will.need to defeat Oryx.

I tried warning you guys

Edited by orthow: 7/15/2015 9:45:23 PMSo much words to clutter the fact your entire theory is based on a broken set of horns being dragon ribs? Have you ever seen ribs? Not a species on this planet with ribs have ribs that form horns. I've had this problem with some of you other lore theories.. You put your eggs in one basket so to speak but base the basket on nonsensical stuff like a pair of horns actually being ribs! People try to hard to make a story out of a game that prides itself on not actually having a story. Ps - I'm a lawyer it's my job to pick apart statements and lacking evidence in this case. I want to believe but it's not even logical.
-
Ohhhh myyyy gooosssh. I literally have no words. It all makes sense too!
-
-
i've never seen this mentioned, but when you capture skolas in the last HoW story mission, do you notice that the pulsing mass on the back of his head/neck around those horns looks just like the 'brain god' worshipped by the vex in the garden?
-
Holy shit that sounds amazing. Hope this is what theyre going for here.
also hope this isnt shot down for something stupid, like indoctrination theory in mass effect was
