Video, there isn't a better video player at the moment: http://www.ign.com/videos/2015/07/06/no-mans-sky-18-minutes-of-uninterrupted-gameplay-ign-first
IGN is doing a month of coverage about No Man's Sky, starting today with 18 minutes of "uninterrupted" gameplay. Someone complied all the info/things that happened in the video, here it is:
Weapons and ships are procedurally generated
Dying on a planet sends you back to your ship, and you lose all of your discoveries that haven't been uploaded, as well as any resources you haven't stored in your ship or sold.
Sentinels are a race of self-replicating machines that protect planets from explorers.
There are 5 levels in the 'Wanted' system. If you kill a creature while in sight of a Sentinel, your Wanted level will increase. To decrease your Wanted level, you need to evade Sentinels and/or leave the planet.
Crystals appear on most planets, and the elements they can be mined for are relatively low in value.
Opening up the game menu allows you to access 4 different tabs; Suit, Weapon, Ship, and Discoveries.
Suits, Ships and Weapons can be upgraded by installing different parts that you can craft within the game menu.
Every discovery you make is tracked in the Discovery tab.
Installing new technologies in weapons allow them to do new things. In the video, Sean installs an upgrade for a plasma weapon, allowing him to mine different elements.
If your ship is destroyed while in space, you lose any cargo that you currently have stored.
Upgrading your suit allows you to explore on planets with toxic atmospheres.
Elements are displayed at the bottom of the screen whenever you collect them.
Flying Sentinels seem to appear at low wanted levels, and 'walking' ones start to chase and shoot you as the wanted level increases.
Wanted levels increase very quickly. Almost every destroyed Sentinel seems to increase it by 1.
The PS4 Controller vibrates if you approach a solar system in the galaxy map
If you are hit by a creature or sentinel, the edge of the screen glows light blue in the general direction of the enemy.

Plenty of dragons for all!
Edit: Added the YouTube version, they finally uploaded it.
Edit 2: Here's the ending, but it's in Italian: http://it.ign.com/m/no-mans-sky-pc/99277/video/no-mans-sky-6-minuti-di-hands-on-ign-first

4 RepliesI wish you could build structures, roadways, defenses and other stuff, and colonize planets. If that were a thing, I'd consider buying a PS4 just for this game. But as is, I wouldn't even buy it if it were available on Xbox.

2 RepliesI want more dragons, who should I speak too?

For all the grief IGN gets, and deserves when it comes to opinions & reviews, they can be pretty solid when it comes to listing game features.
-
4 RepliesDisappointed that I'm on Xbox.
-
2 RepliesNo news today, I think. :(

4 Replies"Installing new technologies in weapons allow them to do new things. In the video, Sean installs an upgrade for a plasma weapon, allowing him to mine different elements.' That is part of what loses me in this game. Upgrade your weapons to mine materials? NOOO thank you. I appreciate their ambitious attempt here but this is definitely not a game for me.

2 RepliesStill looking forward to this.

3 RepliesAdded next part, but it's in Italian.

1 ReplyCannot wait for this game. I want to play this game more than I want to play the new Star Wars Battlefront game coming in November. And I really want to play that game. Been waiting for a new Battlefront for years. Still, I really hope Hello Games releases No Man's Sky soon. Like this year.

3 RepliesI'd pay $100 for xb1 version. Please sony don't ruin this

Edited by Ungod: 7/8/2015 5:07:42 AMLooks pretty awesome. The graphics are a bit more cartoony than I expected but I can live with that. I believe it's coming to PC as well, so if it has oculus/Morpheus support I might get it. It does seem like there isn't much to do though. I'd really like the idea of colonizing planets that someone else suggested and defending them. Some sectors of the galaxy could be pvp sectors so if you colonize a planet it could be attacked n stuff.

1 ReplyI was hoping they would select one of the green planet/stars as a destination...anybody else?

3 Replies>18 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay >keep cutting to the fgts in the chairs, interrupting the gameplay

1 ReplyI honestly just want to explore. Nothing sounds more redundant than "planet sized planets", but oh boy that gets me hyped. The game looks beautiful. The unnatural structures intrigue me. I want to see inside them. The cave systems on each planet. Discovering new species and shamelessly naming them after genitals to satisfy the 12 year old part of me. Upgrading the ship, weapons, and suit to explore my dangerous planets and solar systems. I get a cowboy bebop-esque feel from it. I can not wait.

2 RepliesThis is the only game I'm sad about not being able to play. Oh well, hopefully 343 doesn't drop the ball again.
-
Im slightly concerned for the lack of action at this point.
-
2 RepliesCan you fly the ship in third person or can you only be in first person. First person can be cool but i find it incredibly annoying when flying or driving.

Nice post, still no dragons of note.

Been following this for 1 year. It lies very sexy

2 RepliesI have a feeling this could possibly be way overhyped and people will hate the game when they get it for some reasons. Just a feeling. Not hating on this game because I have Xbox and I can't get it for having Xbox but it just seems like it could happen.

6 RepliesFinally someone who understands no man's sky.
-
2 RepliesHas there been any info on ship sizes released? Would be pretty cool to fly something larger than a fighter-sized craft.
-
12 Repliesthis is not a $60 game

1 ReplyHUGE RED FLAG They wouldn't even let IGN touch the controller and give a whirl to play. Shady stuff
