Many people say hand cannons such as thorn are OP. Do they need a need?

1 ReplyHand cannons are the go to weapons for everything because they put down the most damage per bullet and magazine. That being said, the other weapons need to be brought up to this standard instead. This is based on regular hand cannon performance, not exotics with special perks and not PvP associated. PvP issues need to be kept separate from the PvE side.

Wait just a minute. Now, Bungie tried that with auto rifles close to five months ago and they haven't been the same since. I think Bungie should adjust the performance of a handful of the most widely used handcannons (Thorn). Decrease the rate of fire and range. I don't want to see handcannons being nerfed into the ground. It doesn't make you happy and it won't make anybody happy. Bungie needs to look at what's being use too much and balance it with the other weapons. Honestly though, a better fix might be to buff other weapons to counter handcannons.

Your question is to generic. Take fatebringer, dregs pride, WOC, fulcrum, or the Red x into pvp against Thorn and you will see why people are bent out of shape. Thorn has a high rate of fire with great damage. If Thorn had ill will/timur's lash rate of fire then this would help balance things. TLW just needs a range buff. Lowering it's rate of fire diminishes it's exotic perk. It should have lord of wolves range unless aiming down site then it would have hidden range finder perk. (people actually aim for the first site then hip fire the last 2-3 shots).

5 RepliesI would fix the 111 glitch on TLW and reduce Thorn's range, give AR's a 7-9% damage buff and decrease the range of shotguns. Give scout rifles a buff (especially MIDA) and make fusion rifles powerful again. I would much rather get killed by a fusion rifle or a sniper than a shotgun.

Handcannons in general? A little bit, but not too necessary. The exotics? HAWKMOON is rather fine, no difference between that and a fulcrum with luck in the chamber and braced frame to reduce mag size, last word needs a range nerf honestly, thorn needs the perk to fixed a bit and lower rate of fire and get rid of last round, it's useless, replace it with something beneficial like the rest of the handcannons

Hand cannons need a range nerf. Last Word has one of worst ranges and can still kill players at long ranges, no damage drop off.

Target aquisition too high and needs range and stability nerfs. Impact should stay where it is at

They need a slight range nerf. Last words range needs to match the range stat it has and its perk is broken and works while ads. Thorn needs a range nerf,the dot needs to be lowered in pvp and the screen effect needs to be removed.

it's not hand cannons that need a nerf. It's the exotic hand cannons that need tweaking. I wouldn't say nerf, just adjustments. I don't play crucible often at all. But, I have seen the horror that thorn and TLW bring. Things just need to be adjusted for CRUCIBLE in general. Hand cannons don't need an all out nerf. Because they are perfect for PvE and that doesn't need to change.

I think just lower the damage and put a damage modifier for range. Like the further the bullet travels the less damage. And TLW is also under a bug issue when ADS counting crits as hip fire shot crits often.
