7 out of 9 matches in IB yesterday afternoon had at least one random low level player with green armor who refused to take damage.
5 out of 9 matches had a lag switch thrown when it came time to pick up heavy ammo or capture a CP.
If this shit's not fixed by TTK I don't care if the reviews are perfect I still won't buy it.
Edit: I never understood why the try-hards have to come on posts like this to say that cheating doesn't exist.

1 ReplyThe problem is what bungie did for the HOW launch. They added a anti kick program for ToO so that even the lowest worst connected would not get kicked. If this program was not in place the lag switcher wold be booted and would get a loss
-
17 RepliesI'm sure there are cheaters. I do really feel though that's it's more people trying to make excuses for losing. I'm not sure how you should even distinguish between a lag switcher (if that's actually a thing) and just a bad connection. There are so many people complaining, I really doubt it's as wide spread as some people think.

I'm just going to doubt that they had a lag switch and you were just getting your ass beat fair and square
-
Yea that's what ruined it lol
-
Usually the ones who are saying that the cheating doesn't exist, are the ones cheating.
-
I agree 100%! As of right now, I am DONE playing Destiny and I will NOT be buying TTK. Thank you to ALL cheaters for ruining yet another game for me...

Edited by The Djentleman: 7/6/2015 12:30:11 AMI've done Trials every week and only ran into 1 group that was lag switching. And its difficult to tell if someone is lag switching in IB because...well, IB is just a lag fest to begin with.

Edited by Bolt: 7/5/2015 11:45:55 PMThe sad thing is, there are more than likely very few "lagswitchers," and Destiny being on dedicated servers wouldn't fix the issue. Destiny uses Client-Side Hit Detection. This means that if the client (not host) sees themselves dealing damage, they deal that damage, regardless of what other players see or what the host sees. This means that if someone's connection is pure ass, as long as they see themselves dealing damage, they'll get the kill no matter how absurd it looks on your screen. It became pretty wide-spread in console shooters around 2010, and was touted as a counter to 'host advantage' (where the host had a 100-200 ms advantage due to the fact that their info only had to travel one way). The problem with this is that, one, it gives the laggiest players an advantage, and two, the fact that the 'safety period' (the time in which the game will 'wait' for clients to claim damage) allows players that should have died, to instead kill-trade (effectively giving bad players a better chance to at least go even). The reason Destiny is so much worse in this regard than other games, is that it seems to have a more or less unlimited amount 'safety period,' which is what allows players with 500ms+ delay to actually compete, which is a joke. I submit this as an example: https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/a6ef779c-a09e-470f-b3e6-daa1d9155033?gamerTag=Boltfan&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 I'm guessing this guy had 2000ms+ ping. The fact that the game didn't kick him is a joke. Halo PC has built in protocols that boot people after they hit 300ms. Is the extra money you make off of people playing on toasters really worth ruining the game for everyone else?

1 ReplyHow does lagswitching work in Destiny anyhow, I'm from Gears of War 2 and to lagswitch you needed host and it would stop gameplay for everyone else but host. Now with Destiny what I see is connection goes red bar and you usually get one guy pretty much invincible, does that person need host.
-
So glad I've only seen cheaters in older games
-
I've never seen any hackers in my entire run to rank 5. Not sure what kind of luck you have, but they're not as prevalent as you think
-
1 ReplyI'm not saying it doesn't exist, but I've literally only seen it once and I play trials on 3 characters every week. I play on x bone
-
2 RepliesNext weekend i might lagswitch in trials. Go to the lighthouse and pull the chest. Whats bungie gonna do ban me for a week ohhh noooo!! I already got the rewards haha Even if they ban me for life who gives a shit
-
They banned the people who quit early, but they didn't even touch lagswitchers. I think Bungie needs to reexamine their priorities.
-
2 RepliesIn trials it's even worse. I failed going flawless way too often because multiple teams when they were 2 or 3 games down, all of a sudden went red bar and invulnerable. If I go solo in IB I don't often encounter lagswitchers, but as soon as I go in with a fireteam against other fireteams 7 out of 10 matches we're up against laggers.
-
I will not play it or any pvp im a warlock i threw a grenade at someone it stuck to hes head it blu up and he ran away with no damage done that was enough for me
-
Just keep at it. One day you'll make it to the lighthouse.

2 RepliesI doubt there's as many lag switchers as you think. The real problem lies with the shitty netcode. If you get matched with someone across the world who's using a toaster as a modem, you're likely to have significant issues. Sadly, the best you can do is block them so you don't get matched with them anymore.

3 RepliesI was so done after this sh*t. Two guys were literally impossible to kill and we still made a comeback (5k behind). Is this normal? :|
-
OP please ignore the morons who delusionally think there is no cheating nor lag in this game. Cheaters and laggers run rampant in this game.
-
Lag is an annoying thing to play with and against, and in some cases can feel like some one using a lag switch. If you have a fast connection and some one has a slow connection, some times the fast connection is slowed down to keep up with the slow connection, thus getting lag. But, it does work the other way, too, like when you get lag jumping, a slow connection that is being jumped to keep up with the fast connection. Sad as it may seem, some people actually slow down their connection just for this to happen, and I hate lag jumpers just as I hate lag switched, and there is little difference between them both. Both are deliberate, yet one is permanent whilst the other is activated by a switch (metaphorically).
-
They a treeline that landed on a dudes forehead, it explodes he takes no damage, kills me. Look at his connection, red bar Seriously bungie, is not hard to boot people with to much connection variance. Even cod does it. Get your shit together.
-
Meow. All good things, all good things
-
i have only seen 2 teams of cheaters beat them both but yes it is a problem
-
I was just on trials with an obvious lagswitcher. We def should have won but the dude lagged out of 2 rockets to revive his teammates and glitched behind me with his shotgun. When I'm outgunned I'm man enough to admit it, but when I lose a match because of some dude cheating....the dude cannot abide
