I love my Messenger. It's become my go to weapon in both PvP and PvE (I have Arc & Solar versions) I'm grinding out Dragon strikes to get a Hopscotch because the extra stability looks like it makes a difference but how much difference I don't know yet. Getting silly now with how many strikes I've done. Must be around 300 now. Got 1000+ weapon parts & 250+ motes on the journey. If it doesn't drop soon I'll give it up and play something else till TTK.

Hopscotch pilgrim and spare change for sure and they can be rolled for your playing styles. The three little words from the dark below is decent too (if you have one in your vault).

Some people argue that hopscotch pilgrim is better. Stat wise the messenger is the in between of hopscotch and spare change, so it's what's good for me.
