To all 360 players facing Caterpillar + Live Disconnect

I was tormented for weeks after HoW came out with constant caterpillar codes. Sometimes Hawk. But most of the time I would get a random disconnect from Xbox live while in tower or patrol. Sometimes crucible. I always had an open NAT, and port forwarding. Still problems. You are in luck. I have found a way to fix it. At least for me. If you've looked into the reason you'll notice the help in awfully vague and useless. But here's what I did and I has completely fixed my problems. First, I changed the last 3 digits of my Xbox IP to a number between 110 and 190. I chose 117. It has to be in that range. You can manually input the number you want on the network settings menu. This is the big part, I changed my DNS settings to manual and input the Google servers. This changes the default server to Google instead of your internet service providers servers. The primary and secondary are as follows. 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Then test you Xbox live connection. It will alert you to some major error, but in reality there is no error. The system is just not getting feedback data. It will tell you that you have a strick NAT and that you cannot play multiplayer, buy it is wrong. It is simply unable to see your connection type. Google servers are public and badass. I have noticed and immense jump in the quality of gameplay. No Lag, no error codes. (Well Bee sometimes but that's unrelated) it fixed my problems. Try it out and you will not be dissatisfied. Remember to take a picture of your old IP and DNS settings in case you wish to change it back. Google luck Guardians. I fought this problem so hard, and I finally resolved it. I hope this helps you if you have. This problem.

  • Changing the dns helped a little at first then i started getting caterpillar again every 5 mins so i tried to change the ip and it didnt work and now i cant connect at all. Even tried to switch back to automatic and still can't connect

    • Thanks that really helped me. I was having major issues to where it wouldn't even let me choose my character to play as.

      • Interesting ever since they did the maintenance I been getting the caterpillar, I might try the google dns then look into the ip Thanks I am ps4 but figure should work as well.
