You can pre-purchase the Taken King now for $40 just for the DLC. If you want the Collectors Edition content then sometime before the game launches there will be a $20 Collectors edition upgrade made available that includes the Collectors Edition exclusive items.
You do not need the Collectors edition upgrade to get the year 1 VIP bonus gear, but you do need to purchase and play The Taken King.

Soooo.... $20 for the emotes, shaders, and class items. And $40 for the dlc with the VIP year one items... $60 for all of it?.... Thank you for making it clear that the "deal" = not worth for me. That's only $20 less then the original deal with the base game and both dlcs...... As long as I am understanding you right that is.

Right... I'm there with you. I started playing warframe again cause you know.... It a free... And I'd rather drop $60 there then for this minimal doc package... Kinda hurts cause I love Destiny
