The problem (at least for me) isn't the hardcore PvP only environment that the trials foster but the fact that some of the best PvP equipment in HoW is only available via trials. Luke Smith mentioned in a Kotaku interview that this was meant as a "carrot" to get PvE players to play more PvP. This has failed obviously (and he also says, although very diplomatic, that they are aware of the problem), as only very good PvP players have a chance at flawless. So I hope that in TTK the PvE equipment isn't again hidden in a PvP activity.

  • They gave us a "carrot" we try to follow the rules, do what we're told works, and then we get the "stick". That's how it seems to work.

  • This ^^ I said it before HoW was launched that I was concerned that players would be forced to play PvP to get the best guns and that's exactly how it has come to pass. I don't care about the lighthouse, going flawless or any of the trials specific gear. What I do care about is the absolutely absurd notion that in order to get the best PvE weapons in the game (ok in HoW, as the VoG weapons still outshine most other guns) I have to compete in a PvP event that was designed to be a challenge for the best of the best PvP players. How in the hell is someone that rarely plays PvP and therefore is far from one of the best PvP players supposed to achieve those guns realistically? Ok the usual PvP idiots will just say git gud scrub or the likes, but I am not asking for the guns to be handed to me on a silver platter, I am merely asking that the same sorts of guns be available via PoE which in itself is another bag of crap

  • Exactly. The idea to design specific themed gear for the PvP players who beat the challenge is a great idea, although I think they should have spent more time for the Kell armor, which really looks bland. I really, really hope they have learned something from this debacle (and it's not that Bungie isn't listening to out complains, HoW had quite a few enhancement often asked for)
