if either company did not want it, they wouldn't allow.it. yet they do, and have no issue with it. Adapters arent modding, since your changing nothing on the console. there are guns that give you a advantage in pvp, consider that modding to? Or if I use a wiered controller or net connection with my console, that gives me a advantage so that modding also? Keyboard and mouse give a advantage, if your good with them. But to say its modding, is a stretch at best.
