Here's the problem, a duty rate and VAT rate are both applied to this since it exceeds 18£, the previous dlc coming in at20 u.s. dollars would have been 17.95£, the .05 is what kept it from receiving both of these rates. The new 40$ price means that both of these duties apply in the UK and many other countries.

Edited by Cerberus64: 7/2/2015 4:59:55 PMTrying to get Activison/Bungie correct this injustice is an up hill struggle and having people spread disinformation and lies is not helping the matter. I complain because I care and want this changed.
-
Btw its not imported from the u.s
-
I knew there was more to this than Bungie ripping non-US gamers off.
-
There is, there are some very high duties to pay for importing electronics from certain countries.
-
You idiot its a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD no physical IMPORT actually occurs
-
No. Vat on the around £28 ttk is in pounds comes to £5.60. Not £12. This is just greed
-
And the duty rate on items imported from the U.S. can be as high as 17%, so the 20 for taxes, then the duty of around 17% maybe higher is they applied other duties which is common practice in American goods. So you're looking at anywhere from 37% to 50% duty and tax rate on imports from the U.S. on electronics.
-
You should not have to pay duty on a download, most other games are priced respectively for us so why should this one not be?
-
So you can't blame bungie, they can't circumvent the taxes or duties, they are just following other countries import laws.
-
They fall under the 18£ or 18pound limit so the duties and taxes do not apply, but this being over 18£ means that all the duties and VAT apply, and since its an import from the U.S, extra duties will apply, anywhere from around 17% to as high as 30%, so you have the 20% tax and the 17-30% duty applied on top of that. It doesn't matter that it's digital, it's still considered an import.
-
Actually 40 U.S. dollars in pounds is 25.43, and that is above the 18 pound limit to being exempt from both the rates.
