•
Posted by: Woorloog
Posted by: conor mc ireland
Posted by: Woorloog No elites... -blam!-. Well anyway, there's ONE PROBLEM! If we think the ODST Trailer, and it's canonical, meaning the game happens same time (or starts anyway) as the trailer, the game's on October 20-21... how did the Elites vanish from New Mombasa in less than 24 hours? And why are not the elites in game? That was not answered really... sure the lore thing but why they're not in? You don't have time to make agressive AI for them? Why? EDIT, really, CLARIFY the timeline even more in future BWUs, like Halo 3 dates, and all sorts of little stuff... that'd be nice. EDIT Good update though the news were bad and disapointting in a way. I like the elites but also fighting them. Brutes were FAR TOO EASY enemies in Halo 3... (Even on legendary, though that difficulty is just frustrating, not challengin nor fun) Make the Brutes good, hard enemies in ODST really.
Even though l was dissappointed in halo 3 about the whole elite thing, l think they go well in new mombasa. And no, l could not understand your text above.
Why quote if dont understand? Anyway, found a "mistake" (if it's Bungie made, is it a mistake? October 20: New Mombasa, Kenya is destroyed by the Slipstream Space Rupture Backlash from the Prophet of Regret’s ship. Kenya is destroyed? I think it should be "Kenya, New Mombasa is...." After all, Kenya didn't look burned and destroyed in Halo 3.
=) =) =) Oh, no no no, dude, dude, that's not correct man.

In actuality though, there is no mistake, as New Mombasa is a fictional city in Kenya. So saying New Mombasa, Kenya is correct, as it is stating the city, then the country. /still laughing //not sure if you were being sarcastic or not... ///*bashes head for not realizing his bro used the profile too* [Edited on 01.23.2009 5:07 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: opogjijijp It didn't topple the space elevator. The elevator is quite clearly standing after the slipspace jump
I recall the cutscene ending with the energy field still present.
and it's clearly stated in Halo 3 that it falls when the city is glassed.
It does? Where? But still, most fiction has super light speed effect being deadly to life.

 •
Posted by: AT AT Assault
Posted by: opogjijijp So there isn't a single elite left in New Mombasa less than 24 hours after Regret leaves? Every single elite was on Regrets carrier when he left? Disappointing.
Didn't you notice the energy field flooding the city as Regret's Carrier left? And how it toppled the space elevator? That pretty much says nothing was left alive in the city, and the Covenant reinforcements were entirely Brute.
The elevator WAS NOT toppled in the trailer... maybe by mistake but it's was never stated that the slipspace rupture toppled it. Halo 3, Tsavo Highway (IIRC), marine said: "It divides of collapsed when the city got glassed." (Halopedia) Got glassed. Note that... maybe city will be glassed in ODST. EDIT wasnt fast enough.. EDIT If you look the city in Halo 3, it's like after a-bomb... Brutes tried to steal nukes in GOO... maybe the city was nuked and marines just say glassed becuase Covies did it. Or something. •
Posted by: AT AT Assault Something that sits strange with me. It takes 9 days for Truth's ship to arrive at Earth after slipping into the Sol System? It said Near Relativistic. I'm not sure if that means near light speed, or near the speed that you start noticing the effects of relativity (around .25c). So I'm going to use both numbers. If it means near light speed (lets say 290000 km/s), that means Truth slipped 225 billion kilometers out. If it means almost perceiving the effects of Relativity (lets say 20% or 60000 km/s), that means Truth slipped 46 billion kilometers out. Either Figure would be considered outside the Sol System. Why would they slip so far out when The Pillar of Autumn and the pursuing Covenant fleet were able to slip into a solar system?
Yeah, that bothers me to. The only explanation I can think of is that they wanted to clear any remaining human resistance, but there's no reason to think that major resitnce would last that long.

 • So there isn't a single elite left in New Mombasa less than 24 hours after Regret leaves? Every single elite was on Regrets carrier when he left? Disappointing. It would have been interesting to see the brutes swiftly take control of New Mombasa from a small remaining group of elites, abandoned after Regret hastily left the city for Delta Halo.

 •
Posted by: AbsMindedProf
Posted by: Computerdude103 I don't know how many more of Urk's boring updates I can force myself to read through. Anybody agree or disagree? No flaming por favor. (I'm saying his updates are boring because of his writing style not because of the content involved)
I think they're both fine. Luke still contributes with his editors notes, and I find that Urk still injects humor into the updates. Its usually just a little more subtle.
I was just waiting for somebody to say "well then just stop reading the updates" so thanks for not doing that (yet). Yes, I agree that Urk has had some funny lines in the past, but overall his writing is just not as good as Luke's!

 • Thanks for letting me and the rest of us fans know about the absense of Eiltes in ODST. Now I can go vent my anger on the populace and hopefully be out of jail by the time it comes out.

Do you have the passage, Uber Luber?
They fix'd the Brute pimp maybe it will be an Easter egg in HALO:ODST(god i hate that name).

 • I wish Luke would write the weekly updates. Urk's writing style isn't as fun to read, and honestly, the "manchild" he tried to make fun of in the update actually had decent points (just bad spelling)... I agree that maybe some things are better left for the community to find on their own. Usually when Bungie makes fun of messages they are obnoxious, ridiculous, or otherwise absurd but honestly, this one seemed to be just fine. Maybe it's Urk that needs to be given the boot. I don't know how many more of Urk's boring updates I can force myself to read through. Anybody agree or disagree? No flaming por favor.
