Explain your reasoning. Personally I think the sad truth is that we need to let go. I think we should keep exotics, raid weapons, and iron banner weapons but all the vendor gear should drop. What do you guys think?
Edit: "Ls" = Legendaries

If bungie didn't want to allow us to collect guns then they probably shouldn't have designed a game where the main hook to keep you playing after the small amount of content dries up is the long slow grind for guns. It's on bungie to develop better guns that make us want to use them. But instead we'll get typical bungie laziness (hello backwards levels as new content) where they nerf everything from year 1.
-
I say leave them behind because if I'm ever really trying I'll only use fatebringer it's too good to not use
-
I say all for now until Destiny 2. Then leave them all behind.

Edited by OOODragonessOOO: 6/29/2015 2:36:17 PMas the game gets bigger imagine no 2 people will be carrying the same gun. that sounds like fun, despite what deej says,i dont think having an old gun 10 yrs later would be boring. dude 1-hay,hay,where did you get that? dude2-what this old thing? dude1-yeah! dude2-oh i saved it from 3 yrs ago? dude1-can i get one? dude 2-no,no probably not,its a 1 in 300 Chance drop now.back then it was given to everyone. now. just a few got this. now tell me how that is boring?

I'll never give up my Vision Of Confluence

1 ReplyThey need to make better weapons that will make us change willingly, not remove then by force. The strength of a a doesn't just lie in its attack rating, it's about perks and handling. Get your hands out your asses Bungie, and make some weapons that can stand up to vog weapons!
-
Edited by Lamb: 6/29/2015 12:30:19 PMI don't mind if we can't upgrade them - as long as the strikes/raids drop new Max level versions.
-
Upgrade forever, if bungie doesn't want us to do that, then they should make better weapons
-
I have a few I really like, a raid auto, a new raid pulse. My old scouts and full auto pulse. I want to keep and upgrade them
-
Dunno, I though upgrading the vanilla guns to the new dmg levels was about as much fun as getting a new gun especially after leaving them in the vault for the whole of TDB. Kinda want to bring my favourites along with me for the ride. Or if not at the least I want to be able to hang them in a display case in my guardians room in tower. So I can look at them whilst perusing the ingame Grimoire and think 'good times' ;D

5 RepliesNo one will ever be exited about a legendary hand cannon of they have fatebringer or a well rolled legendary
-
4 RepliesExotics should always be able to hit the new lvl. Raid legendaries I can see having some kind of upgrade system but maybe not as easy. This is a really tricky question.
-
We should only keep exotics it's only a matter of time before people start b!+€hing about seeing the same guns for the life of destiny, and we can't hold all that sh!t anyways
-
7 RepliesEdited by TheGreenDragon: 6/29/2015 5:12:26 AMAll legendaries should be left behind. I'm tired of using the same three primary weapons(fatebringer, voc, and woc) for endgame pve. Now that's only if they are able to make new endgame weapons that are actually useful. Im looking at you PoE weapons. Edit: changed vote to raid and exotics so there can be as many options for endgame content as possible.

Only raid weapons can be upgraded and exotics

11 RepliesYou had my Hopes up. I thought you were the legend, the one that comforted the scared children. No, you're not. The real legend has a Gjallerhorn, you do not. How could you betray our trust?

No, Those are the Real Year One Exclusives!!!

Xur sells ONE random legendary that is unavailable BUT cannot be reforged/at the original light level and the armor is for a specific class ex: if he is selling a hunter helmet one week it will not be the warlock or Titan counterpart they will have to wait for Xur to sell something for them. (Did this make sense?)
-
I think ALL legendaries should be let behind, including raid weapons and armor. Exotics should be upgradable though simply because they can't be recreated, unlike legendaries. Raid weapons don't need to be a higher level then they are simply because they are designed to be used in their respective raids. Increasing their attack power for that reason will change nothing.

Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls it is with the utmost exuberance that I present to you the legendary SmoggyPluto! !!! #LivingLegend

2 RepliesAll raid gear from pre-HoW are OP. To allow new legendaries to shine decrease the attack power of the old. E.G. only allow VOG gear to increase to 331 whilst messenger and scholar be at 365.

2 RepliesFor Destiny (1), I think that only exotics and expansion(II) weapons should be able to be upgraded to whatever the cap is at the start of Year2 (TTK), for the expansion after TTK but before Destiny 2, only exotics and TTK weapons should be upgradable to whatever the limit is at year 2.5. Here's my reasoning: The exotics tie to the story and lore - though we have only seen a slice of what that is. These really should be the weapons that carry through to the end of the game. All other weapons (and armor) are ultimately secondary. Actually, what I'd like to see, come Destiny 2, is that each Exotic you carry over has an item specific quest to unlock its upgrade path further. Whether old exotics are available in Destiny 2, or only importable from Destiny is a decision best left to the developers. Legendaries, including Raid legendaries are another matter. Though the mechanics are FPS, the underlying progression structure is more RPG. In an RPG you would always eventually replace a basic sword with a +1, then a +2, and later a +3, and so on. The point being that discarding your old gear for new is part of the progression of playing. Old weapons don't become useless for many activities, but you would need to keep chasing new gear to have the most effective in highest level activities.

1 ReplyWe've pretty much had the same weapon setups since launch and I still enjoy poppin a thralls head with fatebringer and watching all of his buddies go down with him! I think I have more kills with that weapon than bullets shot! I'm never letting to of it. If we could only bring one weapon from each class into the next game it would be fatebringer, efrideet's, and gally. My favorite setup and I keep it because I never get bored of it. The only thing that would make me stop playing this game is them not allowing me to take all my gear that I have spend hundreds of hours obtaining and ripping them from out hands! The point of the game is to collect gear for your guardian, but not any gear, gear that you will use. The grind for new gear is the grind for the gear you have been searching for. If something better comes along, you'll get it but you'll probably keep your previous weapon if its good because you spent time to get it and will most likely use it again. Getting rid of everything your guardian has become in the first year of Destiny would be a terrible mistake because that first year and the gear you get and wear and the guns you carry are what define your guardian for the time to come. Getting rid of all that would be like starting the game over again and nobody wants to reset progress that they've worked for this long. All Ls should be upgradable to the next DLCs highest rating along with exotics. Rant over.

As the game progress so should the weapons, grinding for new and better weapons is all part of the fun. Forever allowing old weapons to be ascended will encourage weapons hoarding which will result in vault space problems. The general feedback for the current weapons offered with How have been underwhelming, allowing old weapons to be ascended is partly to blame for this. Why would I bother grinding for the queens weapons if they offer no real benefit compared to old Legendaries which can be ascended to do the same damage stat. Bungie's response with the etheric with the how, in my mind was purely a crowd pleaser, and get you grinding the the poe which got old real quick. If after one year I'm still using the fatebringer, black hammer and ghorn combo. The game development have failed and stalled. Even the mighty ghorn should be outdated, otherwise there will never be any new exotics.

8 RepliesAs far as life goes, I can find a gun from WW1 & shoot you with it & you'll bleed & die same as if I shot you w/ a brand new model made last year. Effectiveness shouldn't change
They shouldn't become obsolete because they can't harm my enemies anymore. The only reason I should put it down is because I want to - bcs a new model came around & for whatever reason I like it better. That should come down to stats & perks though. Not because the first gun became ineffective to use in its own right. If in 2020 new monarchy has a Red Hand XX but I like my current IX better, I'm gonna feel pretty good running w/ the classic a lot of youngins (idk what like 9-11 year olds rn) won't know anything about Idk bout anyone else...
We should be allowed to continue upgrading old guns and armor forever.
