What software did Bungie use to make Halo Games?

I have been taking a Animation, 3D Design, and Architectural classes. And I am familiar with the type of software is used to make the game type. Does it use Autodesk tech. Or Maya. Or other.

 • I think the engine is just called the Halo 3 Engine.

 • I believe Bungie has licensed the Havok physics engine to be used within their own engine. Havok isn`t a game engine in it self. It makes the objects in Halo 3 react to gravity the way it does.

 • I would imagine they used Microsoft Visual Studio as their programming IDE, since Halo 3 is a Microsoft machine >:3

 • Oh gotcha. I thought they might use mudbox and such. I think Maya is very cool though myself.

 • As far as I know, models are made in 3ds max, but they also may use maya. From looking their job listings, they're probably also use either Mudbox or Zbrush for high poly work. It appears that Maya is used for animations.
