Remove the k/d as its obsolete and only causing problems
So i've been noticing that this whole k/d is the root of players using another as a human punching bag, but its more problematic than useful. This has created an even bigger rift for us, and has no place in gaming. If you want a way to see who's good, do it without relying on a k/d system. Its a big disgrace to see gamers being further divided by such a stat, and it needs to be removed from all games, even Destiny itself.
If they want to have fun let them, nobody has the right to pressure them to play seriously. You don't need a k/d to tell your story for you, a player can show what they really have when not pressured by others to be just like them. Its pathetic and sad.
Edit: Forgot to mention this, but you can fool people with a purposely bad k/d, so i'd watch your back during crucible. I'm not saying i'm 5.0 material, but i'm pretty damn close.

I think the ratio of kills to deaths you get is pretty important in a first person shooter

Me I never quit a crucible game cause i do care about winning but not as much as finishing up my bounties So yes some games i do great some others i suck It all depends how u are paired up with. But all those try hards usually quit if they are losing kd. So in my opinion npt accurate at all.

I'd be lying if I said that didn't bother me. KD in regular crucible is fine, I play that for fun and bounties. But if you want to play a competitive game mode where the winning team reeps the most benefits, then I'd rather play with positive KD control players. [spoiler]3.3 are my very good games. I usually hang around 1.3 - 1.8[/spoiler]

"Next...sorry dude" KD is a good indicator for skill, it's not always everything I have a buddy with like a 0.7 in control but he plays the objective and we usually win because I smack everyone else in the mouth with my Hardlight or Red Death. That being said running around catching bullets in your mouth adds up on the scoreboard.

5 RepliesThe only time I look at stats and k/d's is when someone is crying for nerfs on the forums. The majority of people that want nerfs generally have either; 1. No experience in the crucible, or 2. Are obviously lacking in skill to place an opinion. Which makes it hard to consider those nerfs since they are not good in the crucible.

Edited by MirageScythe: 6/30/2015 2:08:54 AMkd means nothing today buddy . think about this I ran ToO for first time with friends and did OK until two matches in we come across a lagswitch user (I dumped 50+rounds into his back and he sniped me from across the room having taken no damage ) this guys kd was a consistent 5.0+ in ToO matches I check his profile obviously , yet his kd in normal matches were constantly 0.8 if not worse. kd is ment to be used as a means to tell how ones survival ability's and gameplay effects the matches outcome , not ment to be used as some mouthy punks comeback example : " your kd sucks so your opinion is invalid " I for one look at more than kd to read up on a player and see if something is fishy like with the before mentioned lagswitch user. the kd stat is a tool just like a gun the kd stat doesn't insult a player another player does that same as a gun doesn't shoot someone people use tools to hurt others simply because of personal shortcomings or insecurities. the kd stat isn't to blame people are hatefull hurtfull creatures yes including you and me . you can choose to use tools properly or not but removing tools will not fix the problem at all. edit forgot to brag about my 19.5 kd ironbanner match to make a point sometimes things aren't what they seem.

I like it because I rush a lot and cap a lot of flags so my K/D is about 1/3rd of what I'm capable of

I can't win 80% of any crucible matches playing solo, I'm always expected to carry lvl 2 people on my team against a full team of 5-6 players

10 RepliesI disagree. Trends in high and low K/D ratios are very obvious and apparent... If your K/D is .5, then I'm sorry, but you're not a very good Crucible player. If your K/D is 1.0 or better, then it's clear that you succeed more than you fail. It's pretty cut and dry, dude. Numbers don't lie and that's what the records are there for.

5 RepliesAs long as their k/d is 1.0 or higher I'm ok with them. It let's me know they have situational awareness (which is most important).

KD does matter in a way. It shows if you can aim or not. If doesn't matter what game type you play, if you don't get the kills, you don't get enough points to win.

On control I got a 3 2.5 1 2 yes my k/d from other modes make it negative and those are recent

9 RepliesKD won't be removed from everything as there are websites that can track your stats and if you really care much about people that care about your KD and you say you can prove worthwhile, prove your KD worthwhile
