Why do they feel so much better for FPS games? I know own both consoles and after struggling to dominate in FPS games on the PS4 I can do just that with the Xbox one pad.
Is their actually a good reason why the positioning makes it feel so much better for FPS games?

In an fps, aiming is more important than moving anyway, so I don't see how the offset left stick would make a big difference.

Because of the way the controller fits into your hand. Whenever I play on a PS, I can't keep my thumbs that low
-
1 Replythe controller is what made me switch from ps3 to xbox 360 and stay with xbox, the elite controller will make anyone a pro... with higher analog sticks your KD in any game could double...
-
The Xbox controllers reminds me on holding the awkward N64 controller. I highly dislike the offset sticks. But alas, I do own a 360, XB1, PS3, PS4.

I agree I love the stick layout for Xbox but the ps controller feels weird

I think part of the reason is because most people find it easier to move quickly upward for a fast button press then it is for you to quickly move downwards. Part of the reason for this might be because moving your hand down usually means moving your whole hand, where as moving up usually just means extending your thumb.

1 Replyeh, i can use either. both are about the same, IMO. but the xbox controllers do have better triggers.

39 RepliesYes, the thumbsticks are offset to match our human offset thumbs. Oh, wait. Our thumbs aren't offset and the Xbox One Controller is a piece of shit. Last gen, the PS3 controller was outdated and pretty poorly designed and the Xbox 360 controller was a clear winner. This gen, the PS4 controller is much better engineered than the Xbox One controller. Offset sticks make no sense. Plus the stubby grips, mediocre triggers, and HORRIBLE bumpers on the Xbox One controller make the PS4 controller the clear winner. Anyone claiming the Xbox One controller is better than the PS4 controller is still comparing 360 to PS3 and probably hasn't used a PS4 controller. I have an Xbox One controller and I use it on PC for ease of use since it's natively supported and the UI matches in game, but the PS4 controller is much better.

15 RepliesI think the Xbox positioning is more natural and the ps4 feels awkward

1 ReplyMy theory is that older gamers are used to a d-pad for movement. Up on the d-pad translates to about 45° right on the Sony thumb sticks, where as the Xbox left stick is more aligned with where the old 8/16bit d-pad was located in relation to your hand. I dunno, I do fine with either. Transitioning between them messes with my head for a while though.

Cause sonys controller sucks.... Everyone knows

I feel the Xbox game pad is much better. It has actual triggers and feels much more solid. The dual shock feels cheap and the "triggers" are garbage. The analog sticks feel real cheap as well. The xbox pad was much better engineered.

1 ReplyI love xbone controllers for fps but that's it. Everything else ps4 is better and no im not a Sony pony. I only own an xbone but I have played ps4 plenty
-
I've always liked the xbox controller better. Seemed to do better with it. And I like the thumbsticks and the weight of it made it feel more solid
-
I agree although the ps4 isn't nearly as bad as ps3. Those controllers gave me bad hand cramps, much like the 3ds.

7 RepliesKeyboard and mouse are better, m8.

a longer stick makes it easier to move the stick without applying a bunch of pressure to it. the ps4 sticks are low, thats why i bought Kontrol Freeks. but kontrol freeks arent needed on xbox one
-
they're longer.. kind of like Kontrol Freeks stick extenders. i have Kontrol Freeks for my ps4.

ITT: Sony fanboy gets buttmad

5 RepliesI do like the Xbox one controller, except the bumpers kill it for me. I took the thumbsticks out of the xbone controller and put them in my ds4. I've gotten use to the ds4 though in the last year so I'm happy
-
3 RepliesIn regards to thumb sticks I feel the offset allows better range without bumping into my thumbs which is an issue for me and ps4.
-
Seeing as how Xbox is basically the home of shooters, yeah I agree, they are very shooter friendly controllers
-
6 RepliesI agree the XB controller does feel better. I don't know why but when I first started on my PS4 my hands would cramp easily, maybe the size of the controller mixed with the position my hands had to be in. It also feels much more fragile in my hands like if I squeeze hard it'll break in my hands(even though I know it won't it feels that way) I don't know if it's the weight or the material used but it just feels fragile to me. I can't wait till I get an Xbox style/layout controller for my PS4, I have become more accustomed to the DS4 but still it bugs me at times.

35 RepliesEdited by xXELITE PR3DZXx: 6/29/2015 4:07:42 PMBecause ps has baby sized controllers in my opinion, ahw :p Getting mouthed at by little ps fanboys for having an opinion, shows how bad they are. Edit: added the fact that it's an opinion because some people need to be directly told to understand simple things.

4 RepliesPositioning, i dominate more on the ps4 than the Xbone, but i also think ps4 online gamers are crap. Sorry if i fired shots
